Rise in Industrial Exports Figures

Industrial exports reach historic peak. Turkey's industrial exports increased by 35% in the January-October period compared to the same period last year, rising to USD 137 billion 855 million 650 thousand and reaching the highest January-October export figure in history. The automotive industry achieved foreign sales of USD 23 billion 852 million 903 thousand in the January-October period. Turkey's industrial exports reached the highest January-October export figure in history at USD 137 billion 855 million 650 thousand.   According to data compiled from Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Turkey's exports last month increased by 19.2% compared to the same period in 2020, rising to USD 19 billion 76 million 662 thousand, while in the January-October period it reached USD 166 billion 219 million 414 thousand with a 33.1% increase. Turkey's industrial exports increased by 35% in the January-October period compared to the same period last year, rising to USD 137 billion 855 million 650 thousand and reaching the highest January-October export figure in history.

Industrial exports comprised 82.9% of total exports in the 10-month period

In the January-October period, Turkey's agricultural exports increased by 20.9% to USD 23 billion 511 million 606 thousand, while mining exports rose by 44.5% to USD 4 billion 852 million 157 thousand. The automotive industry provided the largest contribution to the record exports achieved by the industrial sector. The automotive industry achieved foreign sales of USD 23 billion 852 million 903 thousand in the January-October period.

Highest exports seen in the automotive sector

Chemical substances and products USD 20 billion 535 million 463 thousand, steel sector USD 18 billion 119 million 107 thousand, ready-made clothing and apparel USD 16 billion 720 million 209 thousand, electrical-electronic sector USD 11 billion 586 million 647 thousand, ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector USD 9 billion 927 million 549 thousand, textiles and raw materials USD 8 billion 278 million 911 thousand, machinery and components USD 7 billion 642 million 821 thousand, air conditioning industry USD 5 billion 65 million 214 thousand, jewelry sector USD 4 billion 569 million 105 thousand, cement glass ceramics and earth products USD 3 billion 800 million 29 thousand, carpet sector USD 2 billion 616 million 800 thousand, defense and aerospace industry USD 2 billion 410 million 928 thousand, leather and leather products USD 1 billion 425 million 875 thousand, shipbuilding and yacht sector USD 1 billion 195 million 419 thousand, other industrial products USD 108 million 670 thousand in foreign sales.

Surge across all industrial sectors

All 16 sectors within the industrial group increased their exports in the January-October period. Thus, all sectors within the industrial group joined the offensive. During this period, the steel sector was the sector that increased its exports the most at 80.6%. The steel sector was followed by ferrous and non-ferrous metals at 48.8%, jewelry at 44.5%, textiles and raw materials at 42.5%, chemical substances and products at 38.5%, air conditioning industry at 35.6%, other industrial products at 34%, defense and aerospace industry at 33.3%, electrical-electronic at 32.9%, leather and leather products at 27.5%, carpet sector at 27.3%, machinery and components at 27.1%, shipbuilding and yacht at 24.1%, cement glass ceramics and earth products at 23.1%, ready-made clothing and apparel at 19.8%, and automotive industry at 19%.

Highest demand came from Germany

The highest demand for sectors within the industrial group came from Germany. Ferrous and non-ferrous metals, ready-made clothing and apparel, air conditioning industry, machinery and components, and automotive industry exported most to Germany; cement glass ceramics and earth products, carpet sector, jewelry sector, and defense and aerospace industry to the USA; steel sector to Spain; leather and leather products to Russia; other industrial products to France; electrical-electronic sector to the United Kingdom; shipbuilding and yacht sector to Norway; chemical substances and products to the Netherlands; and textiles and raw materials to Italy. To Germany, ferrous and non-ferrous metals USD 1 billion 278 million 773 thousand, ready-made clothing and apparel USD 2 billion 813 million 591 thousand, air conditioning industry USD 569 million 707 thousand, machinery and components USD 732 million 27 thousand, automotive industry USD 3 billion 425 million 985 thousand; to the USA, cement glass ceramics and earth products USD 547 million 563 thousand, carpet sector USD 970 million 478 thousand, jewelry sector USD 722 million 170 thousand, defense and aerospace industry USD 929 million 257 thousand; steel sector to Spain USD 1 billion 263 million 922 thousand; leather and leather products to Russia USD 114 million 701 thousand; other industrial products to France USD 9 million 786 thousand; electrical-electronic sector to the United Kingdom USD 1 billion 660 million 750 thousand; shipbuilding and yacht sector to Norway USD 400 million 229 thousand; chemical substances and products to the Netherlands USD 1 billion 111 million 965 thousand; textiles and raw materials to Italy USD 819 million 258 thousand in exports.
