Mars Logistics Seeks Male and Female Truck Driver Candidates

Mars Driver Academy applications will remain open until 23 August for young people who lack training, credentials and experience in truck driving but wish to pursue this profession. The academy will accept 10 people as a pilot group. Driver candidates will receive in-house theoretical and practical training as well as on-road driving technique instruction. Training duration will vary between 6-8 months depending on the candidate's existing qualifications and credentials. Candidates need only hold a minimum Class B driving licence; no other documents are required. Those who succeed in training and examinations will begin work at the end of the process in the Mars fleet, which currently employs a total of 600 drivers domestically and internationally. Mars Logistics will cover the costs of all documents other than the Class B driving licence for candidates. Erkan Özyurt, Assistant General Manager of Fleet Operations at Mars Logistics, stated: "We are pleased to launch Mars Driver Academy, a new project through which we will provide training to enthusiastic young people eager to work in our sector and subsequently employ them as truck drivers in our fleet. With this project, we aim both to support young people in acquiring a profession and to address the driver shortage the sector has experienced in recent years." In his statement, Özyurt also referred to the Gender Equality Has No Gender project that Mars Logistics has been running since the beginning of 2021. He noted that they consider it their responsibility to strengthen perceptions of gender equality and stated: "As Mars Logistics, we believe in gender equality and advocate in all our projects the view that quality of work cannot be determined by gender. For this reason, we welcome applications from female candidates to Mars Driver Academy."

Mars Driver Academy Application Requirements

In a written statement from the company regarding application requirements, it was noted: "Hold a minimum Class B driving licence, be at least 24 years old, be a secondary school graduate, preferably reside in Istanbul and its vicinity (though candidates from other regions will also be considered)."
