Dried fruit exports exceed USD 1 billion in nine months

Turkey's dried fruit exports rose to USD 1.03 billion in the last nine months, up 11 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to a statement from Ege Exporters Associations, Turkey increased dried fruit exports from USD 927 million to USD 1.03 billion with an 11 percent increase in the January–September 2021 period. By volume, exports rose from 327 thousand tons to 332 thousand tons.

The Turkish dried fruit sector, which surpassed 2020 with USD 1.4 billion in exports, is targeting to exceed the USD 1.5 billion mark for the first time at the end of 2021.

Birol Celep, Chairman of Ege Dried Fruit and Products Exporters Association, whose views were included in the statement, expressed satisfaction that the sector exceeded the USD 1 billion threshold in the January–September 2021 period, and noted that with export shipments to be made in the final quarter of the year in seedless raisins, dried apricots, dried figs and pistachios, they are at a point to exceed USD 1.5 billion for the first time in 2021.

Noting that they are world leaders in production and export of seedless raisins, dried apricots and dried figs, Celep added that they have identified the United States, Russia, Japan, China, Brazil and India as target markets to increase their market share in these countries.
