Istanbul-Based Companies' Exports Exceed $80 Billion

Istanbul Companies' Exports Exceed USD 80 Billion Istanbul companies' exports reached USD 82.4 billion in the first 10 months of the year, rising 15.5 percent year-on-year, with the chemicals and chemical products sector leading the city's exports at USD 14.5 billion. Companies operating in Istanbul, which holds a significant position in global trade, continue at full capacity delivering their products to all four corners of the world. All sectors active in Istanbul continue to increase their capacity to meet incoming demand. According to data compiled from Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) figures, Istanbul companies' exports in the January-October period increased 15.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching USD 82 billion 373 million. Istanbul is followed by Kocaeli with USD 16 billion 392 million, Bursa with USD 13 billion 105 million, Izmir with USD 11 billion 600 million, Ankara with USD 9 billion 108 million, Gaziantep with USD 8 billion 696 million, Manisa with USD 4 billion 222 million, Denizli with USD 3 billion 951 million, Sakarya with USD 3 billion 947 million, and Hatay with USD 3 billion 15 million. In the first 10 months of the year, companies delivered their products to 230 destinations worldwide, with Turkey's share in January-October exports reaching 39.3 percent. Istanbul companies achieved the largest export growth by volume in the first 10 months of the year. Istanbul companies' exports increased by USD 11 billion 56 million compared to the same period of the previous year. Istanbul is followed by Kocaeli with USD 2 billion 526 million, Izmir with USD 1 billion 649 million, Ankara with USD 1 billion 577 million, Bursa with USD 686 million 597 thousand, Adana with USD 537 million 927 thousand, Gaziantep with USD 484 million 448 thousand, Mersin with USD 332 million 563 thousand, Kayseri with USD 275 million 555 thousand, and Konya with USD 245 million 604 thousand. During this period, Adana realized USD 2 billion 490 million in exports, Mersin USD 2 billion 345 million, Kayseri USD 2 billion 613 million, and Konya USD 2 billion 689 million.  
Chemicals and chemical products sector led exports
Istanbul-based chemicals and chemical products companies recorded USD 14 billion 460 million in exports during the January-October period. This sector is followed by apparel and textiles with USD 12 billion 369 million, steel with USD 9 billion 63 million, ferrous and non-ferrous metals with USD 6 billion 642 million, and electrical and electronics sectors with USD 6 billion 199 million.  
Germany leading market
Germany maintained its market leadership in Istanbul companies' exports. During the January-October period, USD 7 billion 7 million worth of exports were made from Istanbul to Germany. Exports from the province to the United States reached USD 4 billion 757 million, to the United Kingdom USD 4 billion 268 million, to Italy USD 3 billion 706 million, and to Spain USD 3 billion 320 million.   SOURCE
