Istanbul Exporters Post $9.3 Billion in Exports
Istanbul exporters increased their exports by 22.1% in the January-October period of 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year, achieving approximately USD 9.3 billion in total exports through the seven exporter associations within their structure.
Istanbul Exporter Associations (İİB), with more than 20,000 companies operating in different cities that are members of the seven exporter associations within its structure, achieved USD 9.3 billion in exports during the first ten months of 2022, capturing a 22.1% export increase compared to the same period of the previous year. Istanbul exporters sold products to 200 country markets in the first ten months and accounted for 5% of the country's exports.
Exports to Middle Eastern countries increased by 41.2%
In the first ten months of the year, Istanbul exporters achieved their highest exports by value to Iraq at USD 742.4 million. Poultry, animal products and furniture, paper and forest products were sold most to Iraq. Following Iraq, İİB exported the most by value to the United States, Russia, Germany, the United Kingdom and Norway. Exports to the US comprised cereals, legumes, oilseeds, furniture and paper products; to Russia, ships, yachts and related services along with cereals, legumes, oilseeds and their products; to Germany, furniture, paper and forest products along with hazelnuts and their products; to the United Kingdom, furniture, paper and forest products along with cereals, legumes, oilseeds and their products; to Norway, ships, yachts and related services along with cereals, legumes, oilseeds and their products were prominent. When country groups were taken as the basis, the region to which İİB exported the most was Middle Eastern countries at USD 1.935 billion. Exports to Middle Eastern countries increased by 41.2% in the first ten months of the year compared to the same period of the previous year. Istanbul exporters exported over USD 1 billion in October with a 16% increase compared to the same month of the previous year.
