Isparta Achieves USD 420 Million in Exports A regional member meeting of the Western Mediterranean Exporters Association (BAİB) was held in Isparta. Speaking at the meeting, BAİB Board Chairman Ümit Mirza Çavuşoğlu stated that USD 420 million in exports was achieved in Isparta. A regional member meeting of the Western Mediterranean Exporters Association (BAİB) was held in Isparta.
Speaking at the meeting, BAİB Board Chairman Ümit Mirza Çavuşoğlu made the following remarks:
"Last year, we achieved significant progress, realizing exports close to USD 2.55 billion. In this respect, Isparta is one of our leading provinces; I would like to extend special thanks to Isparta for this. Regarding this year, we currently have exports approaching approximately USD 2.45 billion. When compared with the same period of the previous year, there is an increase of approximately 2 percent. Of course, we do not consider this sufficient and are working to increase it."
Noting that the regional export figures for Isparta specifically show no difference with a 2 percent increase, Çavuşoğlu continued as follows:
"Currently, we have exports of around USD 420 million, and when we look at it from a sectoral perspective, fresh fruits and vegetables rank first, followed by the mining sector, then cement, and subsequently chemicals. I observed that China had a very significant impact on Isparta province, but this year due to the slowdown in marble imports in China, we unfortunately experienced serious declines in block marble exports from our country. Regrettably, Isparta was also affected, experiencing a contraction of around 50 percent. In other mining areas, companies worked to close this gap. In this respect, with the aim of supporting the marble sector and enabling better sales of marble, we are targeting many countries."
Apples in First Place
Emphasizing that Isparta has a broad range of exports with 15 sectors, Çavuşoğlu stated: "When we look at the top rankings, apples hold a significant position on a product basis, and immediately after that, cosmetic oils naturally, as a product, cannot be overlooked; however, we believe we need to push this much higher. After that, we see the mining sector and cement coming in on a product basis." Following the speeches, awards were presented by Isparta Governor Aydın Baruş, Isparta Applied Sciences University Rector Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Çatal, and BAİB Board Chairman Ümit Mirza Çavuşoğlu to Isparta companies that placed in the export rankings in the Western Mediterranean Region.
