Exports from Southeast to 154 Countries The newly elected board of directors of the Southeast Anatolia Cereals, Legumes, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association, chaired by Celal Kadooğlu, held its first meeting and allocated responsibilities. Chairman Kadooğlu stated that exports of cereals and legumes from Southeast to 154 countries were conducted in 2022, and noted that USD 925 million 904 thousand in exports were realized in the first quarter of the year. Following the regular general assembly elections, the newly elected board of directors of the Southeast Anatolia Cereals, Legumes, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association, under the chairmanship of Celal Kadooğlu, held its first meeting at the GAİB service building. The board meeting chaired by Kadooğlu was attended by Mesut Acar, Ahmet Tiryakioğlu, Ali Çoban, Ramazan Altunkaya, Kemal Çakmak, Seyid Yusuf Akan, Oğuz Özmen, Erhan Sayın, Abdulkadir Ercan and Fatih Hazır. At the meeting where responsibilities were distributed, Mesut Acar and Kemal Çakmak were appointed as Deputy Chairs of the Board of Directors, while Erhan Sayın was appointed as Accounting Member. Erhan Sayın was also appointed to the position of TİM Delegation, and Celal Kadooğlu, Ahmet Tiryakioğlu, Ali Çoban and Mesut Acar were appointed to the position of TİM Sector Board Representative. Mesut Acar was also appointed to the position of Board of Directors Representative of the Foreign Economic Relations Council. Following the allocation of responsibilities, export figures were discussed and sectoral issues were reviewed.

USD 925 Million 904 Thousand in Exports from Southeast to 154 Countries

Celal Kadooğlu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Southeast Anatolia Cereals, Legumes, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association, noted that the newly elected board held its first meeting and allocated responsibilities. He stated that in the first three months of the year, exports reached USD 925 million 904 thousand, representing a 64.6% increase compared to the previous period. Chairman Kadooğlu, who explained that they would participate in all efforts to increase sectoral exports, said: "Today we held our first meeting with our new board of directors and allocated our responsibilities. Certainly, a significant crisis is being experienced globally, and food has paramount importance for humanity. We will support the efforts and projects of our producers to shift towards high value-added products, to prioritize research and development and innovation in their operations, and to take important steps towards branding and the development of international brands from Turkey. Looking at regional exports, we achieved significant growth in the first quarter of 2022, closing the first quarter with USD 925 million 904 thousand in exports. We expect exports to exceed these figures in the second quarter."

Pasta, Wheat Flour, Vegetable Oils Lead Exports

Chairman Kadooğlu, noting that pasta, wheat flour, vegetable oils and biscuit and pastry products ranked at the top in product-based exports in the first quarter of 2022, said: "Among the products with the highest exports in our sectoral exports, pasta leads in the first quarter with USD 163 million 469 thousand, wheat flour ranks second with USD 151 million 946 thousand, and vegetable oils rank third with USD 110 million 982 thousand."

Middle East Preferred by Southeast Exporters

Looking at country groups, Middle Eastern countries rank first among country groups where we conducted the most exports with USD 490 million 527 thousand, followed by African countries in second place with USD 268 million 173 thousand, and American countries in third place with USD 100 million 956 thousand. These are followed by European Union countries with USD 27 million 182 thousand, Asia and Oceania countries with USD 13 million 112 thousand, and former Eastern Bloc countries with USD 9 million 726 thousand, while we conducted a total of USD 6 million 261 thousand in exports to free zones during this period. In the same period, we realized USD 5 million 406 thousand in sectoral exports from Southeast to Turkic Republics and finally USD 4 million 561 thousand to other European countries.
