GAİB Reports Record Number of Exporters

Güneydoğu Anadolu İhracatçı Birlikleri (GAİB), Ağustos ayı bölge ihracatı rakamlarına göre Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgesi, bir önceki yılın Ağustos ayına göre ihracatını yüzde 5,8 oranında artırarak 1 milyar 86 milyon 570 bin dolarlık ihracat gerçekleştirdi. Güneydoğu'nun lokomotif şehri Gaziantep için ise yüzde 6,4'lük artış ile 917 milyon 865 bin dolarlık ihracat kayda alındı.

GAİB Koordinatör Başkanı Ahmet Fikret Kileci, konuya ilişkin şu açıklamalarda bulundu:

"Our region conducted exports through 2,508 companies during August, while the number of companies exporting from Gaziantep was calculated at 1,764. With these figures, both our region and Gaziantep have reached the highest August figures in terms of exporter count. Additionally, 119 of our companies conducted their first export in August 2022. It is a great pleasure to see many companies in our region, especially from Gaziantep, taking steps towards exports as we progress step by step on this journey towards our goals."

Top export destinations: Iraq, United States, Syria

Among the countries with the largest share in Southeast Anatolia Region's exports, Middle Eastern countries rank first with a 40.5% share, EU countries second with 16.9%, and African countries third with 15.4%.

Kileci, noting that exports were made to 192 countries in total between January and August, continued as follows:

"Iraq, United States, Syria, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Iran, Israel, Libya and Djibouti are among the leading countries in our region's exports. Additionally, we exported to 170 countries in August. We are careful to establish contact with different countries and expand our market to further increase these figures. The most important and concrete step taken in this regard is the launch of studies under the Remote Countries Strategy within the Ministry of Trade." Kileci also noted that the most exported product groups from the region include machine-made carpets, bakery products, yarns, fabrics, milling products, plastics and plastic products, vegetable oils, other food preparations, iron and steel products, as well as wood and forest products.

USD 6.8 billion in exports from Gaziantep

Gaziantep, with USD 6.8 billion in exports during the January-August 2022 period, ranked among Turkey's cities with the highest exports. GAİB Coordinator President Kileci, emphasizing that Gaziantep distinguishes itself from rival cities with an export-to-import coverage ratio of 122.8%, stated that the sectors with the highest exports from Gaziantep are textiles and raw materials, cereals and legumes, oilseeds and their products, carpets, chemicals and wood and forest products. Sharing the export figures of other cities within GAİB's scope for August 2022 with the public, Fikret Kileci announced that Kahramanmaraş achieved USD 124.4 million in exports, Mardin USD 98.3 million, Malatya USD 34.2 million, Diyarbakır USD 27.9 million, Şanlıurfa USD 22.4 million, Adıyaman USD 9.2 million and Kilis USD 8.2 million.
