EIB Exports Reach USD 1.378 Billion
Aegean Exporters Unions recorded USD 1.378 billion in exports during April. Aegean exporters fell 21 percent short of the USD 1.747 billion in exports achieved in April 2022.
Turkey's exports in April declined 17 percent to USD 19.3 billion. Aegean Exporters Unions' exports for the January-April 2023 period fell 2 percent to USD 6.045 billion, while exports over the last 12 months increased 3 percent to USD 18.129 billion.
Agricultural exports continued to grow
Agricultural product exports from the Aegean Region rose 4.5 percent from USD 505.8 million to USD 528.9 million. Agricultural product exports from EIB increased 20 percent to USD 2.405 billion in the January-April period, and rose 16.4 percent over the last 12 months from USD 6.112 billion to USD 7.118 billion.
Industrial sector exports fell 32 percent from USD 1.124 billion to USD 764 million, while the mining sector saw a 28 percent decline. The mining sector generated USD 84.5 million in foreign exchange for Turkey.
The Aegean Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Union maintained its top position with USD 177.5 million in export performance, yet could not prevent a 34 percent drop in its exports.
Three exporter unions under the Aegean Exporters Unions umbrella succeeded in increasing their exports in April, while the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Union, which sets export records every month, added another milestone to its achievements with a 290 percent export increase and USD 65.8 million in foreign exchange earnings in April.
The Aegean Aquatic Products and Animal Products Exporters Union, which saw exports decline from USD 135 million to USD 118 million, maintained second place, while the Aegean Ready-Made Clothing and Apparel Exporters Union ranked third with USD 115 million in export performance.
In April, the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Union recorded USD 90 million in exports, while the Aegean Mining Exporters Union achieved USD 84.5 million in performance.
The Aegean Cereals, Legumes, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Union increased exports 21 percent from USD 56 million to USD 67.4 million, while the Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters Union, which exported USD 81.3 million in April 2022, remained at USD 65 million export levels in April 2023. The Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters Union contributed USD 64 million to EIB's April exports.
Aegean Region's exports reach USD 2.062 billion
The Aegean Region's exports in April were recorded at USD 2.062 billion. The Aegean Region had exported USD 2.734 billion in April 2022. The decline in the Aegean Region's exports reached 24.5 percent. Nine provinces in the Aegean Region experienced declining exports.
İzmir recorded USD 1.062 billion in performance in April, followed by Manisa with USD 405.8 million in exports. Denizli generated USD 310 million in foreign exchange for the country, while Muğla and Balıkesir recorded USD 71.5 million and USD 71.4 million in exports respectively.
Aydın reached USD 65 million in export levels, while Kütahya exported USD 30.7 million. Afyon's exports were USD 23 million, while Uşak earned USD 21.6 million in export revenue.
