Aegean Exporters Associations Coordinator Chairman Jak Eskinazi, noting that 7 associations increased their exports in September while 5 associations fell behind last year's performance, made the following comments:
"While our agricultural sectors' exports grew 4% to reach USD 593 million, our industrial sectors' exports totaled USD 806 million, and our mining sector's exports grew 11% to USD 107 million. Over the last 12 months, our iron and non-ferrous metals sector grew 33% to USD 2.6 billion, and our ready-made clothing, apparel, and fish and animal products exporters surpassed the USD 1.5 billion threshold. Our fresh fruits, vegetables, products, and mining exporters brought USD 1.2 billion to our country. Our cereals, legumes, and oilseeds sector approached the USD 1 billion mark."
The beginning of a new era in global trade
Drawing attention to new trade blocs formed by BRICS countries and RCEP countries, according to Jak Eskinazi, a new era is beginning in global trade in every sense. "The balance of power in the world, competition is changing every day. We must find ways to adapt to developments in order to protect and grow our existing markets. RCEP countries, which account for 30% of world GDP and represent 40% of world trade, and BRICS countries, which comprise approximately 40% of world population and 25% of world gross domestic product, are strengthening their commercial ties every day and adding new members to their ranks. Rising new commercial alliances in the Trans-Pacific show us one thing clearly; the aim is actually to diverge from the West as much as possible. If they succeed in doing this, the balance will change fundamentally."
Aegean Region increased exports by 4% in September 2022 to USD 2 billion 659 million
İzmir brought USD 1 billion 442 million to Turkey in September. Aegean Free Zone and İzmir Free Zone contributed USD 286 million to İzmir's exports. Muğla contributed USD 91 million to Aegean Region exports, Balıkesir USD 78 million, Aydın USD 81 million, Uşak USD 41 million, Kütahya USD 39 million, and Afyonkarahisar USD 35 million.
