Major Success from Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri

The Turkish Exporters Assembly announced that 157 companies from the Aegean Region were included in the list of 1,000 exporters. At the TİM Export Awards Ceremony, 11 of the 38 awards went to Aegean companies. The Aegean Region maintained its second place on the 1,000 exporters list after the Marmara Region in 2020, as it had in previous years. İzmir ranked second after Istanbul with 80 companies. According to a statement from the Aegean Exporters Associations, Vestel Ticaret A.Ş. was the highest exporting company in the Aegean Region, entering Turkey's list at fourth place.

PERGAMON STATUS DIŞ TİC .A.Ş. İzmir champion

While TÜPRAŞ, HABAŞ, and Star Rafineri, which have production facilities in İzmir, ranked high on the list, PERGAMON STATUS DIŞ TİC.A.Ş. became the number one among İzmir-based companies with USD 698 million in exports. PERGAMON STATUS DIŞ TİC.A.Ş. also improved its position in Turkey's ranking by two places, securing 17th place.

BAŞAK METAL TİC.VE SAN.A.Ş. Denizli leader

BAŞAK METAL TİC.VE SAN.A.Ş., based in Denizli, earned USD 389 million in foreign currency for Turkey in 2020 and became the leader among Denizli companies. Başak Metal improved its position on Turkey's list from 38th to 32nd place. KLC GIDA ÜRÜNLERİ İTH.İHR.VE TİC.A.Ş., Turkey's export champion in the aquatic products and animal products sector, became Muğla's export champion with USD 199 million in exports achieved in 2020. KLC Gıda rose from 82nd place to 64th place nationwide in Turkey. While the export champion company in Aydın declined to disclose its name, JANTSA JANT SANAYI VE TIC.A.Ş. stood out with USD 63 million in exports. In Kütahya, the export champion maintained its mystery, while NG KÜTAHYA SERAMİK PORSELEN TURİZM A.Ş. contributed the most to the city as the second-ranking company with USD 49 million in exports. BALTA ORIENT TEKSTİL SAN.VE TİC.A.Ş., which earned USD 56 million in foreign currency for Turkey in 2020, successfully represented Uşak on the list of the first 1,000 exporters. Six companies from Balıkesir entered the list of the first 1,000 exporters, with BANVİT BANDIRMA VİTAMİNLİ YEM SAN. A. Ş. leading Balıkesir companies with USD 84 million in export performance.

BATI ÇİM jumped 592 places in a single leap

BATI ÇİM BATI ANADOLU ÇİMENTO SAN.A.Ş. was the fastest-rising Aegean company on the TİM 1,000 exporters list. The company, which ranked 917th with USD 23 million in exports in 2019, jumped 592 places in a single leap to reach 325th place when it increased its exports to USD 54 million in 2020. TUKAŞ DIŞ TİCARET ANONİM ŞİRKETİ, based in İzmir, was ranked 973rd in 2019 but rose 438 places to reach 535th in 2020. TUKAŞ exported USD 21.8 million in 2019 and increased to USD 36.9 million in 2020 with a 69% increase. The third fastest-rising company from the Aegean Region was EGE SERAMİK SAN.VE TİC.A.Ş. Ranked 869th in 2019, Ege Seramik climbed 409 places to become the new holder of 460th place in 2020. The company's exports increased from USD 24 million to USD 42 million. Nine Aegean companies won 11 awards The Turkish Exporters Assembly presented awards to 2020 export champions at a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with 11 of the 38 awards going to Aegean exporters.

VESTEL and TÜPRAŞ each won two awards

Vestel Ticaret A.Ş. ranked 4th overall in Turkey and first in the Electrical-Electronics Sector. Vestel's award was received by Ahmet Nazif Zorlu, Chairman of the Board of Zorlu Holding, from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. TÜRKİYE PETROL RAFİNERİLERİ A.Ş., which carries out a significant portion of its exports from its refinery in İzmir Aliağa, achieved 9th place nationwide and 1st place in the Chemistry sector. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented the company's awards to Ali Koç, Vice Chairman of Koç Holding's Board of Directors. In the steel sector, HABAŞ SINAİ VE TIBBİ GAZLAR İSTİHSAL ENDÜSTRİSİ A.Ş., which produces in İzmir Aliağa, in the air conditioning sector BOSCH TERMOTEKNİK ISITMA VE KLİMA SAN. VE TİC. A.Ş., and in the hazelnut sector FERRERO FINDIK İTHALAT İHRACAT VE TİCARET A.Ş. made their names in the champions league.

KLC Gıda became Muğla's pride

KLC GIDA ÜRÜNLERİ İTH. VE TİC. A.Ş., an established name on Turkey's export champions list, retained its export championship in the aquatic products and animal products sector in 2020, as it had in previous years. In the tobacco sector, BRİTİSH AMERİCAN TOBACCO TÜTÜN MAMULLERİ SANAYİ VE TİCARET A.Ş. held first place in exports in 2020, as it did in 2019. In the fresh fruits and vegetables sector, UÇAK KARDEŞLER GIDA SER.ULUS.NAK.PLAS. SAN.VE TİC. LTD. ŞTİ. made it four export championships. Uçak Kardeşler, which first experienced Turkey's championship joy in 2017, won the export championship again in 2020, following 2018 and 2019. S.S. MARMARA ZEYTİN TARIM SATIŞ KOOPERATİFLERİ BİRLİĞİ, a member of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Association, became the export champion of the olive and olive oil sector.

Eskinazi: "We are maintaining our strong position on the export champions list"

Jak Eskinazi, Coordinator Chairman of the Aegean Exporters Associations, noted that the Aegean Region maintained its strong position on the Turkish Exporters Assembly's list of the first 1,000 exporters, saying, "Our monthly exports from the Aegean Region reached USD 2.5 billion in 2021. We believe we will reach USD 30 billion in exports by the end of 2021. Our export champions will make the greatest contribution to this goal." Noting that the pandemic negatively affected the course of trade and that normalization has not yet been achieved in trade flows, Eskinazi concluded his remarks as follows: "There were abnormal increases in raw material and freight prices. Trade fairs and travel could not be conducted physically, and although physical fairs and travel have begun recently, it will take time to return to the old days. Despite all the challenges, in 2022 we will prioritize sustainability, innovation, R&D, design, and digitalization as our working areas to achieve USD 35 billion in exports. Our efforts to include more of our companies on the TİM 1000 Exporters List will continue."
