Aegean Region's Foreign Trade Volume Approaches $25 Billion
The Aegean Region, Turkey's export leader, exported USD 15.079 billion during January-September 2020, while imports remained at USD 9.858 billion.
According to a written statement from the Aegean Exporters Associations, exporters from the Aegean region achieved USD 153 in exports for every USD 100 of imports they made.
Turkey conducted USD 118.325 billion in exports against USD 156.186 billion in imports during January-September 2020. Turkey's export-to-import coverage ratio for January-September 2020 stood at 75.8 percent.
The Aegean Region achieved twice Turkey's success rate in export-to-import coverage.
In 2019, the Aegean Region recorded USD 22.279 billion in exports against USD 13.743 billion in imports. The Aegean Region's export-to-import coverage ratio for 2019 was recorded at 162 percent.
All provinces in the Aegean Region posted trade surpluses
Based on data from the Turkish Statistical Institute and Turkish Exporters Assembly, the Aegean Region provinces of Afyonkarahisar, Aydın, Balıkesir, Denizli, İzmir, Kütahya, Manisa, Muğla and Uşak achieved trade surpluses during January-September 2020. In the nine-month period of 2020, no province in the Aegean Region recorded a trade deficit.İzmir accounted for 55 percent of the Aegean Region's exports on its own
During January-September 2020, İzmir alone accounted for 55 percent of Aegean Region exports, earning USD 8.302 billion in foreign currency for Turkey. İzmir recorded imports of USD 6.174 billion during the same period. İzmir's foreign trade volume reached USD 14.477 billion, with an export-to-import coverage ratio of 134 percent.Manisa posted a trade surplus of USD 1.125 billion
During the nine-month period of 2020, Manisa achieved USD 2.813 billion in exports against imports of USD 1.689 billion. Manisa's foreign trade volume reached USD 4.503 billion, with an export-to-import coverage ratio of 167 percent.Denizli's foreign trade volume exceeded USD 3 billion
Denizli, which has long held third place in the Aegean Region's export rankings, earned USD 1.972 billion in export revenue during January-September 2020. Denizli's imports stood at USD 1.067 billion. Denizli's foreign trade volume reached USD 3.040 billion, posting a trade surplus of USD 905 million. Denizli's export-to-import coverage ratio was 185 percent. During January-September 2020, Aydın achieved USD 526.165 million in exports against imports of USD 147.360 million. Aydın exported USD 358 for every USD 100 of imports. Balıkesir earned USD 432.009 million in foreign currency for the country while recording imports of USD 309.239 million. Balıkesir's export-to-import coverage ratio was recorded at 140 percent. Muğla, Turkey's dairy products production and export center, recorded USD 430 million in exports during the nine-month period of 2020, with imports of USD 203 million. Muğla's export-to-import coverage ratio was recorded at 212 percent. Afyonkarahisar, the marble capital, achieved USD 265 million in exports against imports of USD 70 million and became the Aegean Region champion with an export-to-import coverage ratio of 382 percent. Uşak recorded USD 170 million in exports and USD 135 million in imports, with an export-to-import coverage ratio of 130 percent. Kütahya recorded imports of USD 63 million while its exports reached USD 168 million. Kütahya achieved USD 267 in exports for every USD 100 of imports.Advertisement
