DuPont Sets 2030 Sustainability Targets
DuPont, emphasizing the importance of sustainability in achieving fundamental innovations aimed at supporting societal development, has made statements regarding its '2030 Sustainability Goals'.
Inspired also by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established to identify the world's most pressing challenges requiring solutions, DuPont determined its nine long-term goals while incorporating feedback from customers and stakeholders alongside evaluations of company activities.
DuPont Chief Executive Officer Marc Doyle stated, "DuPont's 2030 goals are shaped in line with sustainability issues that present the greatest opportunity to articulate our priorities and deliver business value, increase our resilience across our value chains, and enable societal progress," and continued as follows:
"As DuPont, we focus on innovation in solutions while protecting and strengthening our people and planet; we commit to working relentlessly over the coming decade to make meaningful progress toward the nine goals we have identified." According to its Sustainability Goals, DuPont groups its nine adopted goals into three categories: creating sustainable innovations to support the development of customers and the world, improving the sustainability profile of all its operations, and acting to support the inclusivity, well-being and health of people and communities.- Adapting all DuPont innovations to make meaningful progress in the UN Sustainable Development Goals and create value for our customers,
- Integrating circular economy principles into the company's business models, taking into account lifecycle impacts in the markets served,
- Designing all products and processes with sustainability criteria encompassing green chemistry principles,
- Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 30 percent by obtaining 60 percent of electricity from renewable sources and achieving carbon-neutral operations by 2050,
- Implementing water strategies at all DuPont facilities with priority given to manufacturing plants and communities in high-risk water basins, and leading in advancing water technology and implementing strategic partnerships to provide clean water access to millions of people,
- Expanding commitments to zero injuries, occupational illness, accidents, waste and emissions,
- Becoming one of the world's most inclusive companies, taking diversity far beyond industry standards,
- Creating a workplace environment where employee well-being and satisfaction levels are high,
- Improving the lives of more than 100 million people through specific social impact programs.
