Passenger Car Exports Reached USD 6.8 Billion in Nine Months BURSA (AA) - CEM ŞAN - According to data compiled by AA correspondent from the Automotive Manufacturers and Suppliers Association (OİB), Turkey exported USD 6.8 billion worth of passenger cars to 105 countries and autonomous regions during the January-September period. Passenger car exports of USD 21 billion 248 million 339 thousand accounted for 32 percent of the automotive industry's foreign sales during this period. Passenger car exports in the January-September period of last year totaled USD 6 billion 408 million 534 thousand. France, Turkey's second main market in the automotive sector, ranked first in passenger car exports. Compared to the nine-month period of last year, exports to this country during the January-September period increased by 16 percent from USD 1 billion 13 million 783 thousand to USD 1 billion 175 million 911 thousand. Passenger car exports to France accounted for 17.3 percent of total passenger car exports. Italy was the second country with the highest passenger car exports. In the nine-month period of last year, USD 527 million 115 thousand worth of passenger car exports were made. In the same months of 2021, passenger car exports to Italy reached USD 631 million 873 thousand, a 20 percent increase. Germany ranks third. Exports of passenger cars to this country rose by 6 percent compared to the same period in 2020, from USD 592 million 487 thousand to USD 627 million 49 thousand. Passenger car exports to Spain showed a 27.6 percent increase During the same period, the United Kingdom ranked fourth with USD 592 million 405 thousand in passenger car exports.
