Bursa Contributes $7.5 Billion to Exports

According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Bursa, ranking third after Istanbul and Kocaeli, accounted for 7.81% of Turkey's total exports. Bursa's exports to approximately 200 countries, free zones and autonomous regions during January-June reached USD 7 billion 473 million 73 thousand, up 35.6% compared to the same period last year. Exports from Bursa were highest to Germany, one of Turkey's most important markets. Exports to this country in the first six months of the year rose from USD 750 million 800 thousand to USD 1 billion 115 million 920 thousand, an increase of 48.6% compared to January-June 2020. Exports to France in second place increased 38.5%, rising from USD 612 million 563 thousand to USD 848 million 475 thousand. Exports to Italy, where USD 391 million 365 thousand worth of products were sold in the same period last year, increased 61.7% to USD 632 million 713 thousand. Italy ranked third with this figure. The automotive sector accounted for approximately half of Bursa's exports. The automotive industry generated USD 3 billion 633 million 468 thousand in export revenue during January-June. Following automotive, the ready-made clothing and apparel sector contributed most to the city's exports. Sector representatives achieved USD 794 million 230 thousand in exports over the six-month period. Manufacturers in the textile and raw materials sector, ranking third, achieved USD 574 million 939 thousand in exports. Bursa's January-June exports received contributions of USD 444 million 377 thousand from machinery and parts, USD 394 million 411 thousand from steel, USD 368 million 461 thousand from furniture, paper and forest products, USD 331 million 227 thousand from chemicals and chemical products, and USD 289 million 296 thousand from ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector.
