Bosad Meeting Brings Sector Together

The Paint and Raw Materials Sector's Extended Review Meeting was held last September at Moda Deniz Kulübü by the Paint Manufacturers Association (Bosad). The Paint and Raw Materials Sector's Extended Review Meeting was held last September at Moda Deniz Kulübü by the Paint Manufacturers Association (Bosad). Bosad organized the meeting on 14 September 2017 with intensive participation from organizations engaged in raw material production and trade, in light of recent developments in the paint and raw materials sector.  

The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate recent domestic and international developments directly related to the paint and raw materials industry, the problems arising from these developments, and proposed solutions in a joint meeting with sector representatives.

In this context, together with recent international developments in "raw material production and trade," the aim was to address in a multifaceted manner the key topic headings that would feature in Bosad's professional work during its new working period. The meeting, organized with participation from all stakeholders in the paint and raw materials sector, opened with technical presentations held during lunch hours and continued with roundtable discussions. At the event, which took a break with a cocktail, the evaluations made by economist Fatih Keresteci before the evening dinner drew intense interest from participants. Bosad Management Board Chairman Ahmet Yiğitbaşı, who delivered the opening and introductory remarks of the sectoral meeting, discussed Bosad's main objectives in the sector and its national and international efforts in line with these objectives. After summarizing the sectoral and technical work of Bosad working groups, he concluded his remarks with an assessment of the overall current situation of the paint and raw materials sector. Following Ahmet Yiğitbaşı's remarks, the program continued with technical presentations by three professional speakers in their field. The presentations were made by Andrew Trapani from Dow Chemical Company, Plamen Gospodinov from Chemours International, and Tezel Kökdemir from Arkem Kimya. Dow Chemical Company DCM EMEAI Technology Director Andrew Trapani presented his presentation under the title "Paint Trends Worldwide". Trapani began his presentation with major trends in the construction paints sector.

After providing information on regions where paint consumption is growing rapidly and Turkey's situation, he addressed the issue of paint raw materials in detail.

Chemours International EMEA Regional Manager Plamen Gospodinov used the title "Global Titanium Dioxide Market and Expectations" for his presentation on the global titanium dioxide market. Gospodinov, who conveyed volumetric data on a regional basis for the global titanium dioxide market to participants, provided detailed information up to the shares of sectors using titanium dioxide in the total titanium dioxide market. Gospodinov concluded his presentation with a ten-year evaluation of the price-demand relationship for titanium dioxide, the most consumed in the paint sector on a sectoral basis. Arkem Kimya General Manager Tezel Kökdemir presented his presentation titled "Solvent Use and Future in the World and Turkey" in an interactive manner. Like other technical presentations, the presentation attracted intense interest. Kökdemir provided information ranging from solvent types and applications to global and local markets, market dynamics, and the future.

The dinner meeting, from which participants departed satisfied, is expected to be held again next year.
