BAİB's Exports Reach USD 2 Billion Exports from Antalya, Burdur and Isparta provinces continue uninterrupted across 27 different sectors. Companies that are members of the Western Mediterranean Exporters Association (BAİB) deliver hundreds of varieties of products to buyers around the world. Exports from Antalya, Burdur and Isparta provinces between 1 January and 31 August reached USD 1,741,616,043. Having surpassed the USD 1.5 billion mark last month, Western Mediterranean is advancing steadily toward the next psychological threshold of USD 2 billion. Meanwhile, exports from Western Mediterranean in August alone amounted to USD 196,137,146. Of the USD 196,137,146 in exports from Western Mediterranean in August, the mining and metals sector generated USD 44,367,204. The sector, which has natural stone-dominated exports, demonstrated success in returning to the top position on the list for the first time in a long while. The fresh fruit and vegetable sector became the leading exporting sector in August with USD 37,397,654. The wood products and forest products sector ranked third with USD 29,988,281. The chemical substances and products sector ranked fourth, with August exports of USD 23,107,934. The climate control industry sector ranked fifth on the list with USD 7,607,835. China was the leading export destination in August. Exports to China showed a record increase of 60 percent, reaching USD 24,926,875. Germany followed with USD 14,374,149 in exports. Russia ranked third on the list with USD 13,751,761 in exports. The United States ranked fourth with USD 10,832,266 in exports, while Turkmenistan ranked fifth with exports reaching USD 10,036,780, an increase of 218.9 percent. Between 1 January and 31 August, the fresh fruit and vegetable sector achieved the highest exports at USD 577,520,069. Sector exports increased 27.44 percent compared to the same eight-month period of the previous year. The mining and metals sector ranked second on the list with USD 303,203,238 in exports. Despite a 15.76 percent decline compared to the same period of the previous year, the sector remains one of the region's two strongest sectors. The wood products and forest products sector, which ranked third on the list, had exports of USD 208,473,655. The chemical sector ranked fourth, generating USD 168,680,093 in exports during this period. The ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector, which ranked fifth, generated USD 68,840,662 in exports. Based on statistics, the wood products and forest products sector and the chemical sector reinforced their status as the region's third and fourth strongest sectors during this period. Germany was the leading export destination during the eight-month period with USD 160,982,409. Exports to Germany increased 20.33 percent. China was the second leading export destination. Exports to China reached USD 149,087,902 with a 18.58 percent increase. Russia, ranking third, was another country where exports increased significantly.   Exports to Russia during this period reached USD 145,031,099. Exports to Ukraine, which increased 35.84 percent, reached USD 89,245,971 during the eight-month period, while exports to Romania, ranking fifth on the list, totaled USD 67,782,756.
