Seven Sectors Set Export Records According to information compiled by an AA correspondent from Turkish Exporters Council (TİM) data, Turkey's exports declined by 3 percent in the first four months of this year compared to the same period last year, falling to USD 80.873 billion. Turkey's industrial exports dropped 7.4 percent in the January-April period to USD 58.196 billion. Despite the negative impact of global and domestic developments on exports, certain sectors within industry stood out by setting export records. Industry's share in Turkey's total exports reached 72 percent. Leather and leather products, automotive industry, electrical and electronics, machinery and components, jewelry, defense and aerospace industry, and air conditioning industry all achieved record-high January-April exports of all time.

Automotive industry exports topped USD 11 billion

Leather and leather products achieved USD 716.608 million, automotive industry USD 11.310 billion, electrical and electronics USD 5.220 billion, machinery and components USD 3.637 billion, jewelry sector USD 2.157 billion, defense and aerospace industry USD 1.507 billion, and air conditioning industry USD 2.317 billion in four-month exports, all record highs. In the first four months of this year, leather and leather products recorded 4.1 percent export growth, automotive industry 11 percent, electrical and electronics 6.2 percent, machinery and components 8.9 percent, jewelry sector 19 percent, defense and aerospace industry 12.7 percent, and air conditioning industry 3.2 percent. Jewelry sector exports to United Arab Emirates exceed USD 500 million By country, in the first four months of the year, leather and leather products exports to Russian Federation totaled USD 90.183 million, and machinery and components USD 446.091 million. Automotive industry exports to Germany reached USD 1.623 billion, and air conditioning industry USD 246.113 million. Electrical and electronics sector exports to United Kingdom totaled USD 501.437 million, and jewelry sector exports to United Arab Emirates USD 526.444 million. By province, during the January-April period, Istanbul accounted for USD 2.699 billion in automotive industry exports, USD 2.626 billion in electrical and electronics, USD 1.896 billion in jewelry, USD 1.164 billion in machinery and components, USD 898.226 million in air conditioning industry, and USD 444.148 million in leather and leather products exports.
