Chemical Industry Overview for 2019 and December Assessment
İKMİB data shows that the chemical industry achieved USD 1.824 billion in exports in December 2019, a 20.54 percent increase. Spain was the leading export destination in December.
Other top-ten destinations following Spain in December were Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Slovenia, Germany, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Iran and the United States.
Chemical exports to Spain totaled USD 158.153 million in December 2019. The main product categories exported to Spain in December were mineral fuels, mineral oils and products; plastics and plastic articles; inorganic chemicals; organic chemicals; rubber and rubber articles; and fertilizers. Annual chemical exports to Spain for 2019 reached USD 1.062908 billion.
In subsectors, mineral fuels, mineral oils and products led chemical exports in December with USD 589.419597 billion. Plastics and plastic articles ranked second with USD 507.420334 billion in exports, while inorganic chemicals exports stood third at USD 149.389941 billion.
Other top-ten subsectors following inorganic chemicals were: essential oils, cosmetics and soap; pharmaceutical products; rubber and rubber articles; paints, varnishes, inks and preparations; miscellaneous chemical substances; washing preparations; and organic chemicals.
