2017 Bosad General Activities
Bosad (Paints Manufacturers Association) carried out numerous activities within the sector's general structure in 2017 aimed at the sectoral development of the paints and raw materials industry.
National and international regulations and their sectoral impacts are at the forefront of Bosad's professional work areas. Bosad collects sectoral views regarding regulations and shares the sector's opinions with relevant government institutions.
Work is being conducted on the basis of technical regulations and issues arising from their implementation.
The sectoral research report prepared by Bosad in 2017 on the sustainable development and growth of the Turkish paints and related raw materials industry is an important activity within this framework.
For 2017, we can summarize some of the important issues in Bosad's general work areas as follows;
- In the development report for the Turkish paints and related raw materials industry, sectoral evaluation was conducted for the next 10-year period. The Bosad sector report was prepared by A.T. Kearney specialists and Bosad technical experts and was published under the name "Strategic Development Report for Turkey's Paints Sector".
The report presents the strategic expectations and outcomes for the Turkish paints and related raw materials industry over the next 10 years.
- Another important event in Bosad's 2017 general activities was the Research Conference aimed at increasing consumption of construction paints in the Turkish paints industry. The meeting was held in February at the Green Park Hotel in Pendik-Istanbul with contributions from Bosad members and sector experts.
Consumption increase strategies in construction paints and strategic points related to consumption were identified. One output of the Research Conference was Segmentation Work in the Construction Paints Market aimed at increasing consumption in construction paints. The related work was organized by the Bosad sectoral working group together with SIA company.
- All technical work, particularly current issues such as Biocidal Products Regulation and REACH / KKDIK, is carried out by Bosad technical committees. In solving problems in this area, Bosad's relevant working group compiles sector recommendations and shares them with relevant government units.
Additionally, contributions are made to work conducted by TÜBİTAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) and TSE (Turkish Standards Institute).
- Another important Bosad activity in the sector is an evaluation meeting for the Turkish paints and related raw materials industry. The technical meeting held on 14 September 2017 took place at the Istanbul Fashion Maritime Club.
The current status of the Turkish paints and related raw materials industry at the national and international level and the development of our industry were evaluated by Bosad members.
- Sectoral data creation work continues in cooperation with AC NIELSEN. The data format has been improved and data is shared periodically.
- Bosad continues joint work with İKMİB (Istanbul Chemical Products and Derivatives Exporters Association) to contribute to the development of exports in the paints and related raw materials industry.
- Bosad's membership in the International Paint and Printing Inks Council (IPPIC) and the European Paint, Printing Inks and Art Paints Industries Council (CEPE) holds an important place in its international identity. In 2017, Bosad participated in the annual meetings and technical meetings of these organizations.
- Bosad's international fair and congress project continues under the name paintistanbul & Turkcoat. Preparations for paintistanbul & Turkcoat 2018 International Fair and Congress are underway.
- The paintistanbul & Turkcoat 2018 International Congress will be held on 20-21 March 2018 at the InterContinental Istanbul Hotel, while the Fair will bring together the paints and related raw materials sector once again between 22-24 March 2018 in halls 9, 10, 11 and 12 (Main Foyer) of Istanbul Fair Center.
On the other hand, Paint School Presentations will be held on Monday, 19 March 2018 at the InterContinental Istanbul Hotel.
