Scott Bader Invests $16 Million
Global chemicals company Scott Bader has purchased a new facility in North Carolina as it seeks to meet rising local and global demand for structural adhesives and gel coats, products where it holds market-leading positions.
The investment involves acquiring a 110,000-square-metre industrial unit on 15 acres in Mocksville, North Carolina, which will be transformed into a state-of-the-art gel coat and structural adhesive production facility with further capital investment.
This will be the company's second North American production facility. The new development is expected to create 27 new jobs locally, with 21 in production and the remaining positions distributed across HR, R&D, commercial support and applications.
The new facility was specifically selected to benefit from the state's growing advanced manufacturing sector. The facility will be built according to modern design principles, will operate under GMP conditions and will produce a range of innovative Scott Bader products. The facility is targeting full operational status by the first quarter of 2023.
Terry Bralley, Director of the Davie County Economic Development Commission, commented on Scott Bader's investment in the region:
"We are very pleased that an established company like Scott Bader has chosen our county to invest in and expand its offerings in national and international markets.
The new infrastructure will make a significant contribution to the region and the creation of 27 new jobs represents real economic support. We hope that Scott Bader and our region will benefit from each other mutually for many years to come."
Art Murphy, Scott Bader Director of Sales for North America, commented on the latest expansion plans: "This latest investment clearly demonstrates our commitment to the North American market and our global growth strategy.
Our USD 2 million investment in Canada is another indication of this. We now have the additional capacity we need to be more responsive to customer requirements and are capitalizing on interest in our primer-free structural adhesives, which reinforces the success we have achieved in our portfolio."
