NESTRO® Invests in Its Headquarters in Schkölen
To chart a course for further growth, NESTRO® Lufttechnik GmbH in Schkölen, Thuringia, Germany is investing a seven-figure amount (€) in new production equipment at its factory.
Last year, the company acquired a state-of-the-art metal processing cutting / shearing / bending system from Prima Power, which was technically equipped with automatic high-bay storage, gaining clear advantages in terms of productivity, economic efficiency, precision and flexibility.
With automatic loading units for raw sheet metal and a loading / stacking robot integrated into the system between the cutting / shearing segment and the bending segment, multi-shift operation is guaranteed automatically if required.
Metal sheets with lengths of up to 4 m can now be processed for the first time, and pre-cut parts of up to 3 m in length can be bent in an extremely compatible manner.
The bending segment can perform positive and negative bends even on complex geometries without rotating the sheet while tools are automatically adapted to the part and material.
With significantly less manual work, it is now possible to produce even very difficult parts – using a design specific to production – which also results in considerable cost savings in subsequent processing steps.
Robert Nettelnstroth, second-generation managing director of the family business, said: "With this innovative machine type, we can achieve higher volumes at lower costs in shorter timeframes. On one hand, the satisfactory business development of recent years and on the other hand, increasing cost pressure have prompted us to invest heavily at present. This is a clear commitment to our production site in northern Thuringia. We want to expand our international business further."
In its 43-year history, NESTRO® has successfully completed more than 1,200 major projects with over 500 customers worldwide across 30 countries. As early as July, a delegation of four people from the Schkölen company was invited to visit Prima Power's facilities in Seinäjoki, Finland and to accept the machine on site. Production Manager and authorized representative Jörg Schäfer said: "Following simultaneous machine training for operating personnel, assembly must be completed by the end of October 2020 so that the equipment can be put into operation this year" and added: "It is great to be able to operate such modern equipment. This is a major motivation for the entire team."
