Mondi Introduces Retort Pouch Recycler

Mondi, a leading global packaging and paper company, has added sustainable premium food and pet food packaging to its product range with the launch of RetortPouch Recyclable. The new high-barrier pouch will replace complex multi-layer and non-recyclable packaging for various food and wet pet food products. Foods that are moist or semi-moist and undergo heat treatment in steam or hot water retort containers to provide commercial sterilization for shelf-stable foods require retort packaging. In most solutions, aluminium typically used has been replaced with an innovative, high-barrier film that maintains high temperatures during the retort process and preserves short processing times. The new single-material retort packaging offers a fully recyclable, product-protective solution that provides exceptional shelf life for a single-material solution and reduces potential food waste.
