Mitsubishi Electric and AWS Launch Strategic Partnership in Data Center and Cloud Services

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to collaborate in the areas of data centers and cloud services. This collaboration represents another step toward strengthening data utilization solutions through Mitsubishi Electric's Serendie™ digital platform and creating a sustainable society by reducing the carbon footprint of data centers, which are in high demand worldwide.

Mitsubishi Electric is evolving its business model to transform data and expertise accumulated over many years into new business models. These new business models will be built on the company's Serendie digital platform. Initiating a strategic business collaboration assessment will enable rapid implementation of these initiatives and modernization of internal IT infrastructure through AWS's extensive technologies and insights in cloud computing and generative artificial intelligence (AI). Mitsubishi Electric will focus on developing AI platforms for integration into the Serendie platform, optimizing business processes and decision-making procedures using AI, and leveraging AWS's training programs to develop personnel skilled in digital transformation (DX) and innovative approaches.

Through these initiatives, Mitsubishi Electric expects to promote the development of platforms with multiple AI agent orchestration technologies that support digital manufacturing processes. Additionally, it will advance the development of smart building solutions that provide more robust data-driven insights and balance energy savings with productivity and comfort. These solutions will modernize building operations and deliver valuable services to tenants.

In addition, Mitsubishi Electric currently offers products and solutions for data centers such as air conditioning systems, monitoring and control systems, uninterruptible power supplies, and energy distribution systems. With AWS's data analytics and artificial intelligence technologies, these solutions will support greater energy savings and more stable data center operations. Mitsubishi Electric will also develop new energy management methods, such as air conditioning control based on heat load forecasting. Mitsubishi Electric and AWS will continue to innovate in areas such as energy management systems that will contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of data centers during a period when the use of generative artificial intelligence is increasing.
