Intertape Polymer Group Inc. ("IPG" or the "Company"), a leading manufacturer of tapes and films, has announced the launch of PEFR, a new flame-retardant polyethylene (PE) tape to the market. IPG's PEFR polyethylene tape is a heavy-duty tape ideal for healthcare facilities, institutional buildings, laboratories, shipyards and construction sites where flame-retardant materials are required to add a critical fire protection safety layer. It is suitable for use in lightweighting, surface protection, marine and heavy equipment protection, and long-term storage. PEFR's aggressive rubber adhesive is formulated to create a compatible waterproof seal and provide an additional fire and flame resistance layer, making it ideal for use with flame-retardant films, surface protection and textiles. Moisture and solvent resistance deliver excellent performance in various environmental conditions. PEFR provides aggressive adhesion to a variety of surfaces, making it strong and durable, yet it can be repositioned during application without leaving residual debris. PEFR meets fire test requirements and passes the flame-retardant standards established in NFPA 701 (the Fire Test for Flame Spread of Textiles and Films as applied to surfaces, which measures the tape's resistance to ignition). Additionally, PEFR is tested to meet Class A and Type 1 ratings according to ASTM E 84 (UL 723). Product Manager Anthony Vigliotti said, "PEFR tape is ideal for use in the institutional and construction markets where heavy-duty, flame-retardant surface protection, sealing or sealing is required, especially when used in the vicinity of highly flammable gases. It is also frequently required for a variety of marine vessel refurbishment and naval base lightweighting and improvement applications." Market Development Director Jeff Coats said, "It is an excellent product for use in joining films, hanging coatings, and sealing marine protection films in a variety of environments such as hospitals, nursing homes, medical facilities and shipyards. Meeting both NFPA 701 and Class A ratings as defined by ASTM E 84 makes PEFR an economical and necessary tool." IPG's new PEFR tape is a heavy-duty tape ideal for use in places where flame-retardant materials are required to add a critical fire protection safety layer. Source: Intertape Polymer Corp
