Established printing company Imprimerie Baron & Fils has invested in Konica Minolta's award-winning KM-1 Accurio-Jet technology. Among Baron & Fils' customers are luxury brands, financial institutions and companies, firms keeping close track of new trends, and the French National Library. Through this investment, Imprimerie Baron & Fils countered the negative effects of the coronavirus pandemic and increased its digital printing capacity and flexibility. The company now operates a Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1 B2 + UV inkjet printing machine that has replaced its offset press. During the training provided to the company, 4-5 different print jobs were completed. Full production began in May following the completion of training. Notably, Baron & Fils received strong team support from Konica Minolta. The installation, which was taking place at the Clichy facility in one of Paris's suburbs and serving as the hub of a major modernization program, had to be halted in mid-March due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
Two months later, it was completed with the lifting of restrictions and the obtaining of regulatory approvals, including cross-border access between countries.
Baron & Fils manager and partner Florent Sylvestre said: "The Konica Minolta team came from the Netherlands and Germany and worked long hours during these difficult times and under lockdown measures. They completed the installation within a week, and shortly after we began printing operations. It was an incredible success. We sincerely thank them for their professionalism, efficiency and dedication demonstrated under difficult working conditions. With a collaborative and partnership approach, they accompanied us at every step from print selection to successful implementation," he said. Sylvestre continued: "We are very pleased that we have increased our digital production capacity and can offer new opportunities for our customers. These are the cornerstones of our business strategy. We know that in the coming period, short-run applications will become even more attractive for our customers. Moreover, being able to finish and print the final product on the same machine will ensure consistency and help open doors to more customers such as creative agencies and studios. This is a win-win situation for everyone. Short-run digital production will become increasingly important especially in the post-pandemic period." Hidetoshi Omo, Head of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe KM-1 Competence Center, said: "Despite the impact of the coronavirus, we have experienced many positive developments with our customer, and Baron & Fils is an excellent example. Like all our customers, we will continue to support them at all times. As they embark on an entirely new digital journey with the award-winning Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1 at the heart of their renovated facility, we wish them success in the future. Even during these difficult times, we continue to provide our customers with practical and specialized support through our collaborative partnership approach while helping to shape ideas around the world 24 hours a day."
