Gimv Completes Investment in Apraxon Group
Gimv has completed its investment in Apraxon Group, a leading home care provider in Germany focused on wound care services. The transaction is part of a joint growth plan with Oliver Pokrzewinski, the company's founder and CEO, who will remain a significant shareholder.
Apraxon, based in Hofbieber (DE) - apraxon.com, delivers high-quality wound care for (predominantly elderly) patients suffering from chronic wounds in home care settings. Typical wound indications include pressure ulcers, diabetic foot, or leg ulcers. In providing this service, the company acts as an intermediary between patients, physicians, care services, nursing homes and insurance companies.
Thanks to a high degree of specialization, Apraxon consistently delivers high-quality medical care and can tailor the treatment process to each patient's individual needs. In a market with a continuously growing number of patients—a market driven primarily by demographic change—specialized medical care is gaining importance. The services provided are covered by health insurance companies with which Apraxon has been a reliable partner for many years.
"I am convinced that Gimv is the right partner to realize the company's growth objectives and to expand Apraxon's footprint in Germany," says Oliver Pokrzewinski, Managing Director and CEO of Apraxon.
"We believe Apraxon is the right platform to create a true leader in the German wound care market, thanks to its clear commitment to quality, highly qualified nursing staff, and highly digitalized and scalable processes. We look forward to supporting Mr. Pokrzewinski and the entire Apraxon team in realizing ambitious growth plans," says Philipp v. Hammerstein, Gimv Partner in the Health and Care team in Munich.
The new investment marks Gimv's fifth acquisition in the German-speaking healthcare market over the past four years. Gimv currently holds 23 investments in companies in the health and life sciences sector. This acquisition further strengthens Gimv's position as one of Europe's most active investors in the healthcare sector and its commitment to making a positive contribution to health and well-being in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Gimv's portfolio also includes several clinics and practice groups as well as medical technology and biotechnology companies.
