GE Aerospace to Invest $300 Million in MRO Facility in Singapore

GE Aerospace announced a five-year investment plan of up to USD 300 million aimed at increasing its engine repair capacity in Singapore. The investment, to be carried out with support from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), aims to strengthen MRO processes through automation, digitalization and AI-focused solutions, offering customers faster and more integrated service.
The five-year plan covering 2025–2029 focuses on advanced automation, digitalization and artificial intelligence-enabled inspection technologies. GE Aerospace Commercial Engines and Services President and CEO Mohamed Ali stated that the long-standing partnership with Singapore will be strengthened by the new investment, with pioneering capabilities in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services to be deployed.
New capabilities to be introduced
The investment will involve significant modernization work to equipment, methods and facilities in Singapore. The planned main steps are as follows:
- Expansion of advanced technology deployment and repair capabilities
- New module repair capability for High Pressure Turbines (HPT) of CFM International-produced CFM LEAP-1A/1B engines
- Extended engine component portfolio to strengthen the primary service center role for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region
- New facility investment for REACH-compliant coatings and corrosion prevention coating repair capabilities
- Establishment of an Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence focused on Automated Digital Inspection and Predictive Maintenance solutions to enhance MRO and on-wing support services
New Memorandum of Understanding with EDB
GE Aerospace and EDB also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) expressing intent to engage in discussions on further developing advanced repair capabilities in Singapore.
GE Aerospace's global MRO network supports operations of more than 49,000 commercial aircraft engines worldwide, with approximately 3,800 operating in the APAC region. The company provides employment to more than 3,000 people in Asia-Pacific.
The new investment is expected to further strengthen Singapore's position as a regional MRO and advanced repair technology center.
