Fluorosurfactant Need Eliminated
Solvay, a leading company in fluorochemistry, is introducing a new portfolio of high-performance Tecnoflon® peroxide-curable fluoroelastomers (FKM) manufactured without the use of fluorinated surfactants (a type of PFAS used as processing aids).

Georges Houtappel, Vice President, Solvay Materials Automotive Division, stated: "Our peroxide-curable FKM portfolio has always been the broadest in the industry and has made Tecnoflon® a leading brand among our customers.
This unique non-fluorosurfactant polymerization process underscores our leadership in innovation and confirms our commitment to increasing capacity and creating a sustainable future."
In July 2022, Solvay will begin bulk sampling of new Tecnoflon® Peroxide curable grades to allow the market to test and adopt the NFS technology before global market launch of the new portfolio. The transition of Tecnoflon® FKM to NFS is targeted for the first quarter of 2024.
Peroxide-curable FKM elastomers are critical to performance-critical applications across numerous industries including automotive and aerospace, oil and gas, chemical processing, electronics and healthcare. Typical components include seals, gaskets, O-rings and hoses.
