ELIX Polymers Introduces E-LOOP Products with Recycled Content

Specializing in styrenics-based thermoplastics, ELIX Polymers has placed all circular economy activities under its new brand E-LOOP, successfully launched in February. The E-LOOP brand encompasses two strategic programmes of ELIX Sustainable Portfolio Solutions: Circular Plastics and Responsible Innovation.   In October 2020, ELIX obtained ISCC Plus certification for its production facility in Tarragona, Spain. ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is a globally recognized sustainability certification system covering all sustainable raw materials, including circular and bio-based materials and renewable energy sources. Further information is available at: www.elix-polymers.com/news/191/elix-polymers-certified-with-iscc-plus-for-production-of-circular-abs   Initial products are currently commercially available, and the first batches of E-LOOP H801 MR black and M220 CR25 have been produced and approved by customers from the automotive and toys industries who have shown interest in implementing these more sustainable solutions as part of their own circular economy strategies to reach sustainability targets.

E-LOOP H801 MR is a product containing mechanically recycled material, and E-LOOP M220 CR25 is a product containing ISCC Plus certified sustainable raw materials. ELIX sources these recycled raw materials from established suppliers as a result of close cooperation based on long-term agreements.

  Toni Prunera, Head of Business Development and R&D / IP, stated: "We view this as the next step in our circular economy strategy and we are offering products with the same functionality as virgin materials in end-use applications."   These products form part of a comprehensive portfolio that ELIX Polymers plans to launch, with other grades featuring various content levels and recycled stream origins to be added shortly.
