DuPont Wins 4 Edison Awards

DuPont announced that four of its innovative, breakthrough technologies won the prestigious 2022 Edison Awards. Selected from hundreds of candidates, DuPont received three Gold and one Silver award across various categories. Named after Thomas Alva Edison, the Edison Awards have been honoring the world's most innovative new products, services and business leaders since 1987. This recognition, selected by colleagues in the business and scientific community, exemplifies the spirit of sustainable innovation at DuPont and reminds us of the impact we can achieve through customer collaboration in bringing cutting-edge technologies to market."   Gold Award – FilmTec™ Dry Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) membranes won the Gold Award in the Eco-Innovation category. Seawater reverse osmosis membranes traditionally lack stability in dry form and have required both wet testing and a chemical storage solution to maintain performance. The innovation is a dry-stable membrane technology with reduced water consumption, shipping weight and lower environmental footprint from chemical disposal. FilmTec™ delivers high performance throughout its operational life and provides high NaCl and boron rejection to help meet World Health Organization (WHO) and other drinking water standards.   Gold Award – BETATECH™ thermal interface materials were honored with the Gold Award in the Thermodynamics category. BETATECH™ thermal interface material (TIM) is a new solution that helps manage heat in EV batteries. The key to achieving high performance in EV batteries is efficient thermal management. Optimized thermal management is closely linked to achieving a wider temperature range between charges for EVs and can also help improve overall safety and NVH performance. Already specified by many global OEMs, BETATECH™ TIM helps maintain optimal battery temperatures during both charging and operation, extending vehicle range and increasing vehicle safety by reducing the likelihood of thermal runaway.   Gold Award – Delrin® Renewable Attributed acetal homopolymer won the Gold Award in the Polymers and Emulsions category. Delrin® Renewable Attributed provides sustainable design, high conversion yield efficiency and lower total carbon footprint. It is the first commercial acetal homopolymer with a first-class environmental impact profile. Delrin® Renewable Attributed products show reductions of up to 75% in Global Warming Potential (GWP) compared to fossil-based Delrin®. The innovative material is composed of three renewable sources: urban waste converted to steam as a heat source for the production process; wind energy for renewable electricity to operate the production facility; and bio-feedstock converted from secondary waste into bio-methanol for the Delrin® Renewable Attributed base polymer.   Silver Award – The new, Low GWP Froth-Pak™ Spray Foam won the Silver Award in the Building Materials category. Froth-Pak™ Spray Foam uses a blowing agent package that delivers a reduction of more than 99% in global warming potential (GWP) compared to blowing agents used in past formulations and supports DuPont's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Froth-Pak™ is a low-pressure spray foam kit designed for professional contractors that is self-contained, independent and easily transportable. This polyurethane spray foam does not contain ozone-depleting chemicals or HFCs while enhancing performance characteristics. It helps professional contractors quickly and efficiently fill larger gaps and penetrations in both commercial and residential applications—sealing out moisture, dust, allergens and pests while increasing energy efficiency, building durability and homeowner comfort.
