DSM Strengthens Its Position in China
DSM Engineering Materials strengthens its leading position in electric vehicles and E&E high-growth sectors with production expansion in China.
DSM Engineering Materials announced the expansion of high-performance materials production capacity at its Jiangyin facility in Jiangsu Province, China. Work on an additional compounding line began in February 2022 and is expected to be completed in 2023. The new line will enable DSM to meet rising demand for high-performance polymers in a wide range of end applications, particularly in electric vehicles and electrical uses, and help transition to a low-carbon, circular economy.
In recent years, rising living standards and increasingly ambitious environmental policies have increased demand for sustainable high-performance materials in China. China's specialty engineering materials industry, which supplies the automotive, electrical and electronics markets, continues to show healthy growth rates. The new state-of-the-art compounding line will help meet this demand for high-performance specialty materials such as Akulon® PA6/PA66, Arnite® PET/PBT, Arnitel® TPC, EcoPaXX® PA410, ForTii® PA4T/PPA, and Stanyl® PA46.
The new facility's strong sustainability credentials underscore DSM's commitment to shaping a better world for people and planet. In addition to increased production capacity for materials providing sustainable solutions, when the expansion project is commissioned, it will not cause any increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and will be powered by 100% renewable electricity. This aligns with DSM Engineering Materials' sustainability commitments, which include halving global GHG emissions by 2030 and launching bio- and/or recycled-based alternatives for the entire portfolio. The Jiangyin facility is already a pioneer in sustainable production, using self-generated solar energy and sourced renewable electricity to produce high-performance materials.
