DOMO Unveils 2030 Sustainability Targets
DOMO Chemicals has announced its aim to become a reference and leader in sustainable development and social responsibility by 2030, with clear targets and criteria to drive progress over the next decade.
DOMO has committed to carbon-neutral growth in CO2 emissions by 2030 compared to 2019, a 15% reduction in the carbon content of the company's energy mix, and a 7% reduction in industrial waste. DOMO has also set a longer-term target to become climate-neutral by 2050.
Additionally, the company has committed to helping its customers by developing sustainable solutions, including: a 20% increase in sustainable applications; a 20% reduction in the carbon footprint of DOMO products; and a 50% increase in circular solutions.
One of DOMO's most important social performance targets is safety across its global operations. To this end, DOMO has recently established protection targets with its Care to be Safe initiative that apply across the group and aim for a zero-accident target. Another cornerstone of the company's success will be the continuous development of its workforce to achieve an employee engagement rate ahead of industry benchmarking.
DOMO CEO Yves Bonte said: "The pursuit of sustainable value creation and long-term sustainable growth is deeply anchored in DOMO's vision and mission, as well as with our family shareholders. To achieve this sustainability, we are pursuing a carefully planned transformation with a clear roadmap and targets."
The company has also developed "DOMO Beyond," a bespoke, in-house sustainability management system that will help embed sustainable value creation and long-term growth. The DOMO Beyond system is a translation of DOMO's purpose that will help measure progress across all three dimensions of ESG each year. DOMO is already reducing the footprint of its polymers by producing more efficiently with lower energy consumption. In addition, the company is developing products based on alternative raw materials such as bio-based materials that are fully eliminated after their lifetime, and is recycling industrial and post-consumer waste. "The pursuit of sustainable value creation and long-term sustainable growth is deeply anchored in DOMO's vision and mission, as well as with our family shareholders. To achieve this sustainability, we are pursuing a carefully planned transformation with a clear roadmap and targets," said Bonte. Reaching sustainability targets while simultaneously creating business value will require industry-wide partnerships. One example is the collaboration between DOMO, Covestro and Circularise, an innovative transparency initiative using blockchain technology to create an open standard for sustainability and transparency in plastic supply chains. One of its first projects is a blockchain traceability initiative that is part of the Startup Autobahn program and brings together Porsche and material suppliers Borealis, Covestro and DOMO. DOMO is launching a proactive campaign on its sustainability roadmap and continuing to develop this plan with its customers. * TECHNYL® is a registered trademark of DOMO.
