Johnson Matthey Leverages Kebotix's Artificial Intelligence Capabilities to Develop Digital Strategy Johnson Matthey (JM), a leading firm in sustainable technologies, and Kebotix, a US-based technology platform company for novel chemicals and materials, have announced an agreement to investigate the development of next-generation coatings for catalytic converters. The project will support JM's digital strategy and help the London-based company advance its position in digital R&D. Kebotix's next-generation artificial intelligence capabilities have the potential to advance JM's digital transformation in the chemical industry. The collaboration will seek to discover innovative methods to increase the efficiency of experiments leading to optimization of catalytic converter coating formulations. The reduction in the number of experiments is expected to lead to faster improvements. Scientists will be able to use predictions as a virtual catalyst design laboratory and validate design choices to avoid spending unnecessary experimental resources on suboptimal designs. The project will utilize Kebotix's ChemOS™ Pro technology and develop machine learning models through the company's proprietary active learning optimization algorithms. The new partnership will build upon JM's commitment to delivering science-driven solutions that reduce emissions from industry and equipment. JM's technologies have prevented more than 40 tonnes of pollutants from entering the atmosphere every minute over the past half century. JM Technology Director Chris Bennett said, "Combining our strengths with Kebotix reinforces JM's long-standing commitment to creating a cleaner and healthier world by developing cost-competitive next-generation catalyst solutions." "We hope that the opportunity to advance catalytic design by reducing greenhouse gases and other pollutants harmful to the environment will lead to other opportunities to benefit from Kebotix's AI, ChemOS Pro, and entire innovative portfolio." Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Kebotix also shares the principle that controlling emissions at source is an important part of improving air quality. Kebotix Chief Commercial Officer Christoph Kreisbeck said, "Our tools will learn from Johnson Matthey's corporate data and use the lessons learned to predict better-performing catalysts." "Kebotix's artificial intelligence will strengthen JM's current approach by providing new ideas for better designs that will enable JM scientists to develop higher-performing products."
