Devan to Launch Purissimo® NTL

Devan Launches Fully Bio-based Allergen Control Technology The technology is based on probiotic encapsulation and aims to improve the lives of allergy-prone individuals. It can be applied to textile products in the final stage of the manufacturing process. According to the World Health Organization, the prevalence of allergic diseases worldwide has been increasing for more than 50 years in the industrialized world. Allergies impact quality of life and can be associated with certain medical conditions. Devan is launching Purissimo® NTL, a natural allergen control technology that removes pet dander, pollen and dust mite allergens from household textiles. The technology is based on encapsulated probiotics, natural microorganisms similar to those found in yogurt, cheese and other probiotic foods. Devan has extensive experience in probiotics. Purissimo® NTL is based on probiotics already established at Devan, incorporated into a new microcapsule shell. The shell is based on a naturally cross-linked bio-based polymer, up to 97% bio-based and readily biodegradable (OECD 301B), enabling the formation of microcapsules. Initially, dormant probiotic bacteria (spores) are encapsulated. The microcapsule product is then integrated into textiles. Friction causes the capsules to open and releases the spores. The spores absorb moisture, self-activate and begin to multiply. Finally, the probiotic bacteria begin to eliminate allergens that cause allergic reactions and asthma. Purissimo® NTL can be used in a wide range of textile products such as mattress toppers, pillows, bedding, blankets and upholstered furniture, carpets, curtains and public transport vehicles, as well as pet products such as bedding sets. It complies with Oeko-tex® standards, has long-lasting effect and maintains its durability through 30 washes.   Source
