Clariant Contributes to China's Carbon Neutrality Target with Innovative Megamax® Catalyst
Clariant's MegaMax catalyst series for CO2-based methanol production supports China's carbon neutrality targets. Capturing and converting CO2 emissions is a cornerstone of the technology roadmap for addressing climate change. Synthesizing methanol from CO2 is a particularly valuable approach because methanol serves as a building block for thousands of chemical products, including plastics, paints, cosmetics and fuels, as well as providing an energy storage carrier for hydrogen.
Stefan Heuser, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Clariant Catalysts, said: "At Clariant, we are firmly committed to continuously improving our own and our customers' sustainability performance. Our continuous innovations, such as CO2-based methanol production enabled by our MegaMax catalyst, will play an important role in helping our customers in China and around the world significantly reduce their carbon emissions and achieve critical climate targets."
This product group is designed for methanol producers worldwide and is based on a proven copper-zinc-alumina system. The proprietary material composition now surpasses previous generations and benchmarks in terms of carbon efficiency, mechanical stability and product life.
