The new active ingredient Rootness Energize offers genuine opportunities for skin care formulations to counteract the bioenergy sources of skin cells that coincide with aging and stress, and to re-energize cells to preserve their natural functions and longevity. Rootness Energize is produced uniquely from an extract of roots of the Luffa cylindrica plant grown aeroponically. Together with Clariant partners PAT, it promotes and increases the production of bryonolic acid, a rare active compound that is a potent anti-allergenic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory molecule.Using Patented Plant Milking Technology [1], full traceability from seed to active ingredient is ensured, and the accumulated molecules are then harvested from the roots without harming the plant.
The resulting extract is 10 times more concentrated in bryonolic acid compared to that found in conventionally soil-cultivated roots. As a result, Rootness Energize reactivates general metabolic processes to increase energy production in cells, enhance their respiration and stimulate ATP production, reshaping the skin matrix structure. In turn, Rootness Energize visibly increases skin elasticity and reduces age-related tonicity and firmness deficiencies—meaning attractive benefits for firming creams, skin elasticity boosters and revitalizing care products for aging skin. Stem cell technology takes center stage in this new active ingredient for increasingly sought-after scalp soothers and hair care products. EquiScalp addresses and provides effective relief from uncomfortable tightness, excessive dryness, itching and redness reactions seen in irritated, damaged scalps. At the same time, it respects scalp microbiota by maintaining viable bacteria levels and preserving a healthy and normal scalp bacterial population, which is important for protecting the scalp and avoiding new problems. EquiScalp derives its benefits thanks to a rich concentration of the flavonoid phloridzin from root cells of the Fuji apple Malus domestica. Active molecules are produced more sustainably because only small amounts of fruit are needed to initiate large quantities of root cell cultures. The recognized anti-inflammatory, anti-lipogenic and barrier-improving activities of phloridzin enable the extract to successfully control inflammation and sebum overproduction observed in conditions normally triggered by external environmental attacks and stress levels through increased histamine. EquiScalp limits the production of two major inflammatory mediators—IL-1Ra and S100A8/9—overexpressed in irritated scalp, and blocks histamine release by mast cells to effectively soothe scalp sensitivity. This results in a reduction in the irritation response causing itching sensation and redness. Additionally, EquiScalp reduces sebum production in sebocytes, strengthening its soothing effect. As a result, scalp desquamation is limited to less visible flakes and scalp barrier function is strengthened. Clinical data from volunteers using EquiScalp show that scalp desquamation (shedding) was limited to a -20% reduction and scalp sebum production showed a -20% reduction compared to placebo. It achieves this by reducing two irritation mediators by -27% IL-1Ra and -46% S100A8/9, as demonstrated by innovative biological analysis performed on each volunteer's scalp.A visible reduction in redness was observed and more than 80% of the group experienced a significantly increased feeling of comfort linked to the reduction in scalp irritation.
