Canadarm3 Development Model Design Completed Rock West Composites Completes Development Model Design for Canadarm3 Rock West Composites announced that it has completed the design of the development model for Canadarm3 under a contract with Canadian space company MDA. Under the contract terms, two primary booms and one qualification boom will be built and tested to support the Canadarm3 robotic arm, which will be provided by the Canadian Space Agency as part of the Lunar Gateway Program. This highly autonomous robotic system will utilize the latest software to perform tasks around the Moon without human intervention. The boom structure, a critical component of the Canadarm3 system, will be responsible for supporting the robotic arm's operations and ensuring its stability and reliability throughout a service life exceeding 20 years. The structure must meet stringent structural and weight requirements as well as tight dimensional tolerances, operate over a wide temperature range, and withstand radiation.
