BASF Advances Sustainable Product Innovation in Chemical Catalyst Portfolio
BASF is introducing a series of new catalysts to be presented in a number of web seminars during the upcoming European Petrochemical Association Conference (EPCA).
The new offering includes catalysts for more efficient production of isopropyl alcohol (IPA), a key component of hand sanitizers, a consumer product in high demand during the Covid-19 pandemic.
BASF's high-performance oxo alcohol catalyst Ni 3354 E combines high activity with exceptional selectivity. The catalyst has been tested and approved for IPA production via acetone hydrogenation.
Ni 3354 E enables IPA producers to operate at high conversion rates and temperatures without a loss in selectivity, thereby increasing productivity.
BASF Launches New Production Line for Selective Hydrogenation Catalysts
"Our latest innovations underscore BASF's commitment to providing sustainable and efficient solutions, supporting our strategy to help customers become more successful," says Dr. Detlef Ruff, Senior Vice President of BASF Process Catalysts. BASF will launch the new generation of selective hydrogenation catalysts by the end of 2021. Thanks to an innovative light alumina support, the amount of catalyst required to process unsaturated C3-, C4- and PYGAS streams can be reduced by up to 40%, giving steam crackers and refineries the opportunity to increase their efficiency and offset rising palladium market prices during their operation.Advertisement
