Axalta Voltatex Powers Life-Saving Equipment

Axalta, Voltatex® has announced an increase in the supply of electrical insulation resins. This material enables medical device customers to rapidly produce life-saving equipment such as ventilator motors and N95 face masks, which are in high demand globally by hospitals during the coronavirus pandemic, and to ensure proper equipment. Dave Heflin, Vice President of Global Industrial Liquid Coatings at Axalta, noted that Voltatex products are at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19, saying, "As a supplier to medical device companies globally, we are producing more product to enable our customers to accelerate the production of ventilators and N95 face masks, which are critically important for hospitals everywhere in the world." He added, "Voltatex products, which meet the highest quality standards, reduce the weight of electric motors by more than 15 percent and can be used safely without interruption even in the most demanding applications." Heflin reminded that operating motors at lower temperatures can extend motor life and overall efficiency, concluding his remarks by saying, "Our medical device customers rely on the benefits that our Voltatex products will provide, as they are aggressively increasing the production of equipment and materials that will help save lives around the world."

Axalta's award-winning Voltatex brand offers a broad range of electrical insulation products including wire enamels, impregnation resins and core sheet varnishes designed to work together to enhance efficiency.

Impregnation resins, which are essential components of electric motors, generators and transformers, provide mechanical stability, additional electrical insulation and excellent protection against a wide variety of environmental factors. Voltatex coatings are applied to ventilator motors that provide safe operation to help reduce energy demand and emissions, low-power servo motors for face mask machines, and superconductors for MRI machines. Axalta's Voltatex® 4224 impregnation resin recently earned the Golden Edison Award, one of the most prestigious awards in the world that recognizes innovation and excellence in new product and service development, marketing, design and innovation in the Materials Science and Engineering category. Voltatex 4224 won the Edison Award for the second consecutive year this year.
