Archroma Launches New Thickening Agent
Archroma announced the launch of Mowiplus® HPC 9600, a new thickener used in disinfecting gels, to help address the global shortage caused by the COVID 19 crisis.
Hand disinfectants are typically made from alcohol and additives, with thickener often added to create gel texture.
Gel disinfectants are considered more user-friendly than liquid versions because the valuable disinfectant material, critically needed in the fight against coronavirus, is not spilled or wasted.
The supply of thickeners used in the production of hand disinfectant gels and other household and personal care products is currently facing global shortages due to COVID 19 coronavirus.
Experts from the Archroma team in Brazil, anticipating supply challenges as had occurred during previous outbreaks such as H1N1, decided to investigate the issue.
The result was Mowiplus® HPC 9600, an alternative offering good performance and cost levels and even eliminating the traditionally required 12-hour hydration process, saving valuable time in this crisis.
Marcelo Ribeiro, Sales Director Brazil at Archroma, said: "Everyone at Archroma is currently fighting COVID-19 in their homes and workplaces, doing everything we can to protect our loved ones, colleagues and ourselves."
Regina Oliveira, Sales Director Latin America at Archroma, added: "With Mowiplus® HPC 9600, we can actually make a direct difference and contribute to the fight by offering a product that helps create a better end product and protects every drop of precious hand disinfectant. This is our nature and it makes us very proud."
The new product is listed in the INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) and complies with RDC N°83 ANVISA / MERCOSUL Technical Regulations from July 2016 for personal hygiene products, cosmetics and fragrances.
Mowiplus® HPC 9600 is currently available in Brazil. ®Archroma trademarks are registered in many countries. © 2020 Archroma.
