Grace Expands Operating UNIPOL® PP Technology Capacity in China with Oriental Energy. W. R. Grace & Co (Grace), a prominent provider of polyolefin catalyst technology and polypropylene (PP) process technology, has announced that Oriental Energy Co. Ltd. (Oriental Energy) has initiated operations at a new plant utilizing Grace’s UNIPOL® PP Process Technology. Situated in Maoming, China, the new reactor line, with a capacity of 400 kilotons per annum (KTA), commenced the production of high-quality homopolymers and random copolymers. Oriental Energy now oversees four sites employing UNIPOL® PP technology, contributing to a licensed capacity of 1.6 million tons of PP: 400 KTA in Zhangjiagang (commenced in 2015); two 400 KTA reactor lines in Ningbo (commenced in 2021); and the newly operational plant in Maoming. With this, Oriental Energy currently holds the largest total UNIPOL® PP process technology capacity in operation in China. UNIPOL® PP Capacity Expanded Sandra Wisniewski, President of Specialty Catalysts at W. R. Grace, remarked, "The successful start-up in Maoming, achieved through collaboration with Oriental Energy, represents another significant milestone in our partnership. Ltd., expressed appreciation for the joint effort of the Oriental Energy and Grace teams in ensuring a successful start-up, highlighting a catalysis reaction occurring within 10 minutes of injection. He stated, "This new UNIPOL® PP technology line aligns with our commitment to providing quality polypropylene products in China."
