Sustainability Study from Akkim
Akkim Kimya has added a new one to its sustainability efforts. The company, which has signed national and international collaborations with the aim of gender equality, took a leading role in the chemical industry by obtaining a loan from Garanti BBVA within the scope of the Gender Loan structure Akkim Kimya, a signatory of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, carries out gender equality practices in order to prevent discrimination and support human rights.
The company, which continues its cooperation in line with the sustainable development goals set forth by the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest sustainability initiative, participated in the “Target Gender Equality” program and supported more women leaders
and equal representation efforts.
Sustainable financial support was provided to Akkim Kimya within the framework of the “Gender Loan” structure, which Garanti BBVA started as a first in the world. Receiving a Gender Loan loan for the first time in the chemical industry, Akkim will accelerate its work
focused on gender equality. The company’s practices in this area will be evaluated with the methodology developed by Garanti BBVA, and the loan interest will be reduced.

Akkim Kimya General Manager Onur Kipri explained the details of their work aiming at gender equality. Expressing that they will implement the actions they have determined in this field with the Akkimce brand, Kipri said: “As one of Turkey’s leading chemical raw material manufacturers with our 45 years of experience, we always give priority to the principles of gender equality and fairness in line with our social and economic development goals. With this in mind, we planned what we could do until 2025 under the Akkimce brand. This year, we became a signatory to the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principle (WEPs).
