Sun Chemical Underlines Commitment to Quality and Compliance in the Textile Industry with Ink Certifications and Listing on ZDHC Chemicals to Zero Framework.
Sun Chemical demonstrates its steadfast commitment to quality, sustainability, and compliance in the
textile industry by obtaining crucial ink certifications.
In recent years, the textile sector has made significant advancements in eliminating hazardous chemicals from its supply chain. Sun Chemical has actively sought certifications to provide customers with clear information about ink compliance and chemical management.
One such certification is the OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT, a unique distinction that extends beyond evaluating finished printed products, offering customers enhanced confidence in ink usage. Sun Chemical collaborated with TESTEX AG, an OEKO-TEX approved independent testing and certification organization in Switzerland, to validate a range of its inks.
Sun Chemical's products, including Xennia® Amethyst Evo®, ElvaJet® Topaz, and ElvaJet® Opal, have received the ECO PASSPORT certification from OEKO-TEX. These inks cover a comprehensive selection of reactive and sublimation inks. Notably, these inks have no restrictions and do not require re-testing for compliance with the OEKO-TEX Standard 100, simplifying the supply chain for customers.

Additionally, Sun Chemical’s participation in the ZDHC Chemicals to Zero Framework (CtZ) underscores the company’s dedication to excellent chemical management. The CtZ Framework, initiated by ZDHC, aims to promote responsible chemical management across the apparel, footwear, leather, and textile industry. Through diligent efforts and rigorous testing, Sun Chemical has achieved ZDHC Level 3 certifications for a variety of products, earning the designation of “Progressive” on the new CtZ framework.
Dr. Paul Wallace, Technology and Regulatory Manager at Sun Chemical, stated, “Our inclusion in the ZDHC Chemicals to Zero Framework is a testament to our ongoing commitment to sustainable development and meticulous chemical management. By attaining ZDHC Level 3 certification, we reaffirm our dedication to producing inks that meet the highest standards of quality and environmental responsibility.”
In addition to its other certifications, Sun Chemical also adheres to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). This commitment is evident in the GOTS certification earned by all reactive dye and most acid dye inks. This certification guarantees the organic status of finished products printed with Xennia Amethyst Evo and Xennia Amethyst RC inks, offering reassurance to environmentally conscious customers.
Simon Daplyn, Manager of Product Marketing at Sun Chemical, emphasizes the rapid evolution of the textile industry and Sun Chemical's recognition of the importance of prioritizing product safety, environmental responsibility, and compliance. Sun Chemical has established a dedicated regulatory and compliance team for digital inks, aiming to meet customer requirements and drive innovations towards regulatory compliance, sustainability, and continuous improvement in minimizing potentially harmful chemicals to users and the environment.
Sun Chemical's accomplishments in ink certifications and its involvement in the ZDHC Chemicals to Zero Framework underscore the company's leadership in quality, compliance, and sustainability within the textile industry.
