Stress Management
When we feel sick, we often search our symptoms online, like “Causes of headaches?”, “What causes nausea?” and try to understand what is going on.
Sometimes, we encounter stress in the answers to all these questions. In addition to affecting our success and motivation in our business lives, stress affects our social relations and our health badly, and can even cause chronic diseases.
For this reason, we need to be able to manage our stress not only to focus on our work and be successful, but also for our health and social relationships.
Stress is not always bad. On the contrary, sometimes it is our stress that keeps us motivated and focused. When our body is under stress, it detects possible dangers, possible errors and can work more effectively.
But the excess of this stress, which keeps our body and mind alert, has the opposite effect on us. Because of stress, we cannot focus on what needs to be done without thinking about possible mistakes, we cannot get a good sleep and therefore we cannot concentrate, and we can experience many more bad effects.
For this reason, stress management does not mean avoiding stress completely. A stress-free life is not possible for anyone; There will always be issues in our lives that worry us or that we overthink because we care too much.
The important thing at this point is to keep our stress level manageable and turn stress into a feeling that motivates and activates us.

There are psychological and physical symptoms of prolonged exposure to stress. When we look at the psychological symptoms; we have problems focusing, we become more distracted, and we become irritable and anxious. Besides, we feel sad, angry and under pressure.
As for the physical effects, people under stress may experience nausea and stomach burning, digestive system problems, headache, rapid breathing, heart palpitations, hand tremors, sweaty hands, and increase in body temperature.
Although these symptoms are conveyed in this way, of course, everyone’s reaction to stress and the symptom they show can be different. It is recommended that individuals who are chronically stressed and have difficulty coping with the effects of this stress should seek professional help.
How to Manage Stress?
When starting stress management, first of all, we need to identify the situation that puts us under stress. After identifying it, we should analyze this situation well and understand why it stresses us and take action to minimize the bad effects of the factors that put us under stress. This act of taking action is called stress management.
Thinking Positive
In fact, the most important thing is to think positive. Our mind is always pushing us towards negative possibilities, which makes us more stressed. But the probability of the
bad possibilities that our mind tells us to happen is actually low. At this point, it is quite important to push our inner voice to speak more positively and to make the right risk management.
Time Management
Time management is also one of the methods of coping with stress. Constantly postponing a job to be done and trying to finish it at the last moment cause us to be even more stressed and, as a result, to have concentration problems.
The quality of the work we produce here also decreases, and the stressful situation we are in affects our body and soul badly. With a good time management, doing our work more divided and organized will help reduce our stress level.
Exercising
Exercising helps us both release the happiness hormones and empty our minds. It is not necessary to do heavy training here, but to take a short walk to empty our minds can also be good. Pilates is one of the exercises recommended especially for desk workers. By making exercise a habit, you can control your stress.
Meditation
To get away from bad feelings, it is important to rest and listen to our soul. Meditation also allows us to rest our soul, by getting away from all thoughts for a while; It is important
to feel the moment, to realize that there is a flowing world outside of ourselves.
There are many types of meditation, one of the most preferred is yoga. Yoga can help you
reduce stress by focusing on both mental and physical health. Information on how to meditate can also be easily accessed through social platforms. There are even apps that help you meditate.
Meeting with Nature
While living in the city, we cannot spend much time in nature. However, nature has a side that makes people feel peaceful and relieved. You can take long nature walks and plan a holiday in touch with nature. If you like to spend time in nature, there are many places to camp in Turkey.
Especially recently, İğneada-Longoz Forests have become very popular. It can be a nice route to relieve stress on the weekend and get away from the crowds of the city.
Hobbies
How we spend our time outside of work is also very important to relieve the stress of work. Experts emphasize the importance of dealing with the things we love to do outside of work and taking time for ourselves. By finding something we love to do, we can make our time outside of work more enjoyable, and in this way, we can reduce our stress by focusing our minds on something else we enjoy.
Open Communication
Communication with others is one of the factors that puts people under stress. Most of the time, we get stressed because we cannot explain ourselves.
At the same time, conflicts can occur in the workplace, which can cause the
work environment to be stressful.
Here, it is quite important to clearly convey what we want, our expectations and our problem to the other party. With open communication, we can avoid conflicts and convey ourselves better.
These are all recommended methods to keep our stress at a certain level. So, what should we do if we are in a stressful moment and cannot manage this crisis?
First of all, if possible, we should take some deep breaths and take short breaks to relax ourselves. It is never wrong to ask for help, if there is a job we cannot do and we cannot
get out of it, we should take ideas from the people around us and ask for help. Listening to relaxing music can also help us reduce our stress.
Stress is an issue that everyone feels at many points in their life and has a hard time coping with. Stress is an instinctive, natural, and motivating emotion that keeps us alive.
Stress management should not be focused on eliminating stress completely; but on coping with it, keeping our body and mind in balance and healthy in case of stress.
