Sika has acquired United Gilsonite Laboratories (UGL), a well-known manufacturer of consumer and DIY waterproofing products in the United States. Their product line is distributed throughout the United States and can be found in major retailers. Sika's high-value-added concrete and masonry waterproofing and refurbishment systems will benefit greatly from the acquisition. UGL expects to make CHF 65 million in sales in 2021.

Watertight basements are becoming increasingly important in commercial construction to maximize building utility and protect valuable assets and investments. Sika can benefit from the growth trends in both the residential and commercial construction segments by combining the two companies' offerings.
