Natural Solution for Oily Prone Scalp and Hair

SymControl® Scalp Natural Solution for Oily Prone Scalp and Hair Symrise at the cutting edge of technology has developed a new solution for oily scalp and hair. We strongly believe that beautiful hair starts with healthy scalp. SymControl® Scalp was developed to bring a natural and easy-to-use solution dedicated to oily prone scalp and hair. Consumers with oily hair and scalp are known to wash their hair every day due to excess of sebum, lack of volume, dirty appearance and scalp discomfort sensation. Indeed, we found that out of 26% of global consumers with oily scalp, 72% have greasy hair as a consequence and 58% have to wash their hair more often.* SymControl® Scalp is a natural ingredient made of a Mediterranean Sea microalgae called Tetraselmis suecica selected for its natural ability to protect itself against environmental stress. By studying this mechanism, we identified that mannitol - one of this protective osmolyte - was also able to normalize sebum secretion on the scalp. Based on this discovery, we supplemented the microalgae extract with mannitol to enhance its sebo-regulative activity in a patented and unique Cosmos approved ingredient. Sustainable Production and Extraction

We have developed our microalgae extract in a sustainable way, with a production process having a low impact on the environment and with a soft extraction method. Tetraselmis suecica biomass is sustainably produced by Blue Biotechnology in photobioreactors, using outdoor solar energy and up-cycled CO2 . The recovery process reduces the environmental impact of CO2 that would otherwise go into the atmosphere.

in response to Microalgae Extract[/caption]Symrise has then designed an original and new screening tool: an ex-vivo model with the culture of microdissected sebaceous glands (SG) from human donors. The model has shown to be a valid asset for the study of the SG metabolism, for in-vivo and cosmetic purposes. The developed protocol of extraction and lipid analysis allows to use the model as a highly predictive screening tool. Data generated could immediately be successfully transferred to the in-vivo situation, thus proving its superiority over monolayer cell culture.
