Hexcel Joins in Collaborative Innovations at New Spirit AeroSystems Aerospace Innovation Centre.
Hexcel Corporation (NYSE: HXL) and Spirit AeroSystems Europe have formed a strategic partnership at its
Aerospace Innovation Centre (AIC) to develop more sustainable aircraft manufacturing technologies for future aircraft production.
In September 2021, Spirit AeroSystems Europe has opened a new 90,000-square-foot innovation center at its Prestwick, Scotland location.

Spirit Europe will collaborate with academic and industry partners such as Hexcel to innovate, train, and develop skills for today and tomorrow at the AIC, which has been established as a center of excellence for the research and development of advanced materials, digital manufacturing technologies, and processes.
Spirit, headquartered in Wichita, Kansas, has production facilities in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Malaysia, and Morocco.
Some of Hexcel and Spirit Europe's collaborative activities at the AIC include the continued development of resin transfer molding (RTM) production applications that will showcase future opportunities for liquid composite molding (LCM) solutions.
Hexcel HiTape®, a high-performance dry unidirectional reinforcement optimized for fully automated lay-up, and HiMax® multiaxial fabrics allow RTM fabrication of primary aerostructure components with HiFlow® infusion resins.
Hexcel is proud to support Spirit Europe and its innovation center as the two companies work together to develop more dependable and sustainable advanced lightweight composite materials that will help reduce emissions and create more efficient aircraft today and in the future.
