We had an enjoyable interview with General Manager of Anton Paar Turkey Mr. Ali Mert Özgen about the technologies used by the company and the advantages they will bring to the sector.
Could you tell our readers about yourself and your professional background?
After Istanbul High School, I studied Electronic Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. I did my master’s degree at Munich Technical University. After my experience in the automotive industry, I have been working as a manager in the field of measuring devices for 10 years.
What are your product types? Which sectors do you serve?
In addition to it is organic growth, Anton Paar now offers different solutions for each laboratory, together with the companies it has purchased. I can already see this in our sales reports, almost every sector is almost equal in weight, and no industry has a dominant weight.
Our company, which comes from R&D and university origin, is of course a world leader in characterization. There’s no one who does not recognize us anymore in rheometers and particle size meters. With Quantachrome, which we bought 2 years ago, we have become able to offer surface area and porosity devices.

But apart from characterization, we have a very large portfolio in quality control instrumentation, which is used as a standard in laboratories. For example, our density meter devices are very well known, but we have also started at the entry level in the field of rotational viscometer for several years.
I believe that our rheometer specialist company has brought serious innovations to the field of stationary viscometer. Microwave devices in the field of combustion and synthesis are another area where we make a serious leap.
Technological developments make our lives easier. What is the importance of technology for Anton Paar?
We allocate approximately 20 percent of our turnover to R&D activities. This is a very, very high rate compared to industry averages.
As Galileo said, we continue to work to measure what is measurable and make what is not measurable. We are growing rapidly both by developing devices within our organization and by purchasing companies that we see potential. The future looks very bright for Anton Paar.
Friends who want to contribute to this growth locally and globally can apply for a job. Our recruitment continues and will continue in the coming days. We value working with “good” people in a peaceful environment; and we are open to friends who want to contribute to this.
What are the after-sales technical services you provide to your customers?
As of this year, we have increased our standard warranty period to 3 years. Because the robustness of our devices is known in the market. Rather than trying to explain it verbally, we wanted to make it visible and provable. The response of our customers was very positive,
I hope we will be an example in our industry. Another issue we care about is application support. In relatively complex devices such as rheometers, surface area devices, we only have experts interested in application. These friends do not have commercial goals, they only work to support customers.
Being able to guide and support customers to produce better products is the most important goal and pleasure for our team. Already a major cause of the local presence of our company, I believe that Anton Paar is to bring the huge global knowledge to Turkey.
Could you tell us about your work as Anton Paar on behalf of a sustainable world?
Anton Paar is a company founded in 1922, from our Republic. The focus is on developing technological solutions that will support scientific research years ago. It was transformed into a foundation company in 2003, and since then, revenues have been spent on projects for the benefit of society.
In this context, scientific projects are supported, anti-addictive projects are being developed. One of our latest projects is to host young people who have to take refuge in Austria, from countries such as Afghanistan-Syria, in a dormitory within our factory.
These young people are trained here as people benefiting both themselves and the society after technical education. In order to be beneficial to the society, I see that the sincere efforts of the family are noticed in the company and this makes me happy.
