In our interview, Ms. Didem Öztanık, Assistant Manager of
ITT Logistics, gave information on the products they offer and their sales activities in the logistics industry. Öztanık shared her valuable views with our readers on different areas such as the services and sustainability approaches that ITT has recently developed.
Could you briefly tell us about yourself and your professional background?
I am the daughter of our founder Tekin Öztanık and I have been working in ITT for approximately 11 years. After completing my university education in Turkey, I received my master’s degree in international business in England. Prior to returning to Turkey, I had a one-year work experience in Tunisia.
Afterwards, I returned to Turkey and started to work in the logistics industry, which is our family profession. I worked in many different departments of the company such as customer service, purchasing and sales departments. Currently, I continue to work as the Assistant Manager of ITT Logistics.

Could you give some information on the establishment process and fields of activity of ITT?
ITT is a 20-year-old company. However, there was a renewal in 2014 and our company went from multiple partnership to single person partnership. ITT has a tank washing facility, ITT bonded and unbonded warehouse areas.
We have tank repair, steam heating, water heating, electric heating systems and container replacement processes. We carry out various imports and exports. In the second quarter of 2023, our port services will start.
Could you tell us about the products and services offered by ITT? What are your target sectors?
We appeal to all industries that need hazardous liquid chemicals and have transportation and container replacements. Any customer who needs, produces and consumes this kind
of material contacts ITT in some way. Our target audience includes anyone who produces and consumes such products.
Could you give information about ITT’s domestic and international activities?
In terms of domestic activities; we have filling, storage, tank repair, tank washing, container replacement and heating operations and tank rental operations. As for abroad, we have import and export operations.
Could you tell us about ITT’s environmental policy and sustainability approach?
We, as a company, attach great importance to environmental protection. In particular, we received support from the Yıldız Technical University Environment Committee on these
issues, and we personally invited them to inspect us.
We have successfully passed the environmental tests of both this committee and other auditors. Our priority is always environmental safety. Yes, many materials undergo operational processes in our facilities, but we know that an organization can be made without losing environmental awareness and harming the environment, and we continue with this mission.
As ITT, do you have any new services that you have developed recently?
Apart from the port services service that we will launch in the second quarter of 2023, we are currently focused on isocyanate container replacements. In this area, we have imports
and exports. Change and investment never end. We still have many different projects that we want to implement.
Our aim and goal is to keep the concept of logistics alive, without forgetting that not every product carrier can be a transporter and not everyone who stocks any product between four walls can provide storage and logistics services, and that logistics is a considerably large industry that requires serious effort and investment, and we will continue to serve the industry with many different projects and many different brands.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I can clearly say that although our industry seems vast, it is actually quite small. As I mentioned earlier, logistics/shipping are very broad terms. Unfortunately, nowadays many
companies conduct this business in the sector without separating these two terms and without showing the care they deserve.
Competition is good, it helps to develop institutions/ firms and adds vision to the industry. However, competition is not obtained with price, but with quality, with your service providers.
I have heard from many people that ITT Logistics is guiding the industry, it is a good feeling, but I would like to state that ITT will not guide the industry in 2023, it will realign
the pieces and set up the game. This is just a matter of working hard, making the right investments, doing what you do best, and constantly learning.
